It smells lovely and has loads of buds, really bushing out this year after being in for 2 years.

And the unknown climber which I think you are all right, is Arthur Bell

I will definitely be taking lots of photos.  Thursday is the day my sister and I will be there.  I’m not back home til Sunday evening but if I get a chance I’ll post some and then more when I am home again.

    Nice photos everyone!
I was away for several days (last Thursday to Monday) and when I got back, the difference was really visible, everything is taking off now. I have buds on four or five different roses ready to open but it was rainy yesterday and cold and cloudy today so more waiting...

Marlorena, the mystery rose you named has finally bloomed.
but I've forgotten the name again, I think I wrote it down!
    And the other

  • The small house estate where I live has a home owners managed park and all along the edge a hedge of roses.
It is just starting to bloom and smells lovely particularly first thing in the morning when there is no one about apart from me and the dog x

I'm hoping I'll have some blooms to share tomorrow. I made an impulse purchase of alibaba climbing rose.... Should flower later in the season

That looks like a Rosa Rugosa hedge. Tough roses, even deer aren't so keen on them.

@WonkyWomble are the flowers small and dainty on the second rose? Looks like Climbing Cecile Brunner. Mine is just coming out.

Hello BusyL, yes it is Cecile Brunner 😊 I bought both these roses when Dove and I went to East Rushton old vicarage a few years ago. It's yours in France or Norfolk?

@WonkyWomble Mine is in France. It's got too big, haven't had time to prune it for a couple of years.

Love the Old Vicarage. Enjoy your trip to Bessingham, I think we'll be going next month. We are in France now.
