@Suesyn ...yes, potted roses bought now are usually going to be pot bound... if you can't plant it in the border, then yes repot into a larger pot and keep it going through next season... review next autumn, perhaps you will have a space available in the garden by then.. you can then bare root it next November and replant it if you wish.. or keep it going in the pot... either way is good..
Does anyone here have any roses from a French breeder Dominique Massad? Either under his current brand (Petales de roses) or bred under Guillot. I've been looking on them for some time now but the lack of information and high prices for both the roses and shipping from France kept me away from them so far.
..^a cheaper way to get DA's...they all look good too.. ... I sent my husband out today searching for a potted 'Kew Gardens' as I want a 2nd one to add to the one I have... DA have sold out.. and we can't find one anywhere... I wonder if they had one in your photo?... but it's too far to go for us in any case.. our nearest Wyevale has shut down.. they used to have a good selection and the 2 Dobbies and Van Hage didn't have it either... I'll have to leave it for now..
@edhelka I want a load from there, I've also been adding and emptying my cart at Tantau rozen in Germany, but I've become cautious over this Brexit business so I'm reluctant to order in case they want more for shipping or it gets delayed en route and they arrive all dead or something... I think I'll hold off for a bit..
Fabien Ducher in France are very good too.. I can recommend them... delivery is very quick.. and all these roses including Massad's are on Laxa rootstock..
Incidentally, a couple of years ago I was really annoyed with Petales de Roses but I've got over it now... they are using one of my copyrighted photos to sell a rose.. I should have complained to them, but I'm pretty easy going about this sort of thing, I was just a bit taken aback.. some people regard it as personal theft but I don't go that far... it's this one here... that's my garden photo they're using... it would be funny if I ordered that rose from my own photo... but regardless, yes lots of others I want... 'Belle de Calais' being one...
...ah well, thanks... saved my husband another journey then... I just looked up British Garden Centres and my nearest is at Bressingham in Norfolk.. too far for a wasted trip... they have a nice selection though...
@Marlorena That's quite bad for a company like them, also given the fact that they use trademark symbols after almost everything... ironic.
I also don't like that they mostly have only a single photo for their roses. And often there's not many more on HMF. I like 'Andre Turcat', 'Centenaire de l'hey les roses' and also some of their Eglantelles range, the one that I like the most is 'Danielle Arcucci', I love how it looks like a poppy flower. I would like some true red single or a less full semi-double with red stamens and centre, or at least without yellow stamens, I don't like that type of contrast. But almost all roses I've been able to find with that look are climbers/ramblers.
@edhelka - I didn't get her at the time because there was nothing to see other then slightly yellowing leaves and some blackspot - probably due to being in the pot too long.
I was looking at photos and information online but I couldn't tell from those whether I liked it or not.
You really need to see them properly in bloom and smell them.
My nearly 3 year old was loving going around the table sticking his nose in the blooms copying me.
He pointed one rose out saying "This flower smells really lovely daddy, mmm its a really good one". So o went to have a sniff.
Can't remember the name of it but completely scentless!

I visited Brigg Garden Centre today in North Lincolnshire (another British Garden Centre) and found these:
These are different to the first ones I posted about at the garden centre nearer to home. Which were the Corinne's choice ones.
Being sold for £19.99
They had a great range of DAs both in DA pots and in these ones.
I am so disappointed that I left that half price Princess Alexandra Of Kent at Fountains Abbey last week!!!
Saw her properly today and thought she was great, very strong scent - especially for a soggy day.

They had Tranquility, Gentle Hermione, PAOK, Crown Princess Margareta, William Shakespeare and a few others
