I'm with you on rats Guernsey Donkey2 I hate them. Raked over the veg patch ready to plant the veg when ready. Another coat of paint on the scaffold board, filled I don't know how many bags of stuff for the tip, potted on a few more plants and started to secure down things in the garden as they forecast gales, cooler weather and thunder storms for later in the week watered the plants now I'm in to start our dinner.
I cleaned some paving with the last of the Patio Magic and then mixed up some SBK weedkiller and very cautiously sprayed the ivy on the wall, the mortar is crumbling a bit and I don't want the ivy to penetrate. Also sprayed the young growth on brambles beginning to reappear on rough ground. After lunch I cleared out the shed, removing all my ceramics where they've been stored over the winter and had a clearout at the same time. I'm now exhausted.
Been watering and moving things and potting on and somehow that has taken me all day! I haven’t stopped but don’t have a lot to show for it lol! I’m now giving a cuppa and the leftover pavlova my attention before it turns to mush! 😀
I'm all scratched and stung! Been cutting out the dead wood from an Albertine that I hadn't got around to pruning, vicious thorny thing, in the long border and digging up nettles. They weren't there last year, horrid things. Maybe they were in the manure mulch which the goosegrass is really appreciating. Spent some time weeding but have only done about 4m of the bed.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Went to GC to find the red spring onions and cucumbers that I couldn't find elsewhere. Then put up the clematis netting in the greenhouse ready to grow cucumbers on. Checked seeds that are yet to germinate, no sign yet. Then cleared the area ready to plant clematis tomorrow. That was enough done for the day.
Finally started pruning the hedge and trees after buying a brand new cordless pole pruner set (chainsaw on a stick) Sweaty work, the brown bin is full and I’m not even a quarter done...and that’s just the front garden.
Fetched 4 bags of Ashwood's Supagrocompost and 3 white petunias jumped in my basket.
Came home and potted on the last of the Nicotiana seedlings. Noticed that the excess Night Scented Stock seedlings I threw away a couple of weeks ago are romping away in the garden.
I cleared some blanket weed from the pond this afternoon, being careful to gently return the newts that I netted into the pond again. This morning I planted a new shrub rose (Easter present) with plenty of manure and garden compost mixed into the hole. I also sorted some more tomato seedlings that are now 3 - 4 inches tall and fed and watered the daffodils as they are now dying down.
Watered as still no rain. Checked seeds and some of the nasturtiums are up. Planted the two clematis. Looked around the garden for a spot to plant the valentine bleeding heart. Most of the Aquilegia are just about to break bud. Cooler morning as cloudy, but sun coming out as dinner time approached making the most of the last good day.
