Did you not hammer on the doors and shout IAW? Five hours is a long time to be marooned in the garden! My OH had to get a patio chair and climb over the small garden gate to find me - I was happily gardening at the top of the garden and had left the front door key in the lock on the inside so he couldn't get in. I also keep both side gates locked when I'm in the back garden - it's a bit like Fort Knox here at times. OH was not amused.

Spent all afternoon building raised beds after a total redesign of my new veg garden (the one I completed a week or so ago lol!). We’ve also been building retaining walls for a split level patio and it was while standing on the upper level that I realised I just couldn’t live with the design...out came the graph paper and now building a much more formal area! I ache like I don’t know what after heavy grafting all week, but I have wine and it’s my birthday tomorrow so I may have a day off! 😀

Flinster , happy birthday for tomorrow 🥂
Sometimes , whats on paper doesn’t look right , hope it has now  gone well
  • @GWRS I volunteer at Capel Manor College in Enfield N London. The Japanese garden is just one of many gardens they have in the grounds there. I started to volunteer after I completed my RHS level 2 diploma. I had not intended to do so much in just one garden it's just the way it has worked out. The senior gardener I work with has been to Japan many times and has worked there on a kind of exchange basis, he says he is still learning as their style of gardening takes a lifetime to master.

  • Happy birthday @Flinster any pictures of the new design.

Take the day off and enjoy that wine you mentioned  🎂 🍷 🍷

I have cut down some old hellebore leaves, cleared the area of oak leaves and germinating acorns and mulched with some compost mixed with BFB. Mr Robin and his wife were looking on with interest, Brandlings aplenty to fatten the Mrs up with.

OH cut back lawn so the spuggies can put away their periscopes. He also power washed the patio just to get the worst of the dirt off. Let's just say that l supervised, l would have needed wet weather gear to get near the garden with that going on !
