Lots of gardening over the last few day in community garden, bit in garden and bit at allotment
The bees in the pampus grass have there little nesty thing in bits on the soil not sure what happened if the chucked it out quite far away or if something dug the out - they are flying about in bits not as many of them now - hope they move somwhere else in garden now then I will be able to clear rest of pampus grass sawing it out of ground main lump planted I guess
Got my new walk in gh up today and potted up some tomatoes

Took out the last of the bellis daisies. Was going to replace them with nemesias but ended up cutting back the clematis Montana instead (as you do) . Watered everything in pots that needed it, was going to start planting the nemesias but rain (which wasn't forecast) stopped play.

Just had time today to walk round taking photos and admiring all the roses coming into bloom. The bearded irises are looking great as well. One more asparagus spear is coming up, we're having to take turns to eat them. The white-bottomed bees that are nesting in one of our compost bins are really busy - there are now lots of them which is  making getting to the shed and back slightly hazardous.

Have to say asparagus in garden and allotment has been excellent

Asparagus - yum! We had a bed for a few years, first few years were good, then the crop number dropped off and became woody.  Well worth doing though.
Took delivery of 5 grass offer from G.W. mag today, all small, but will pot them on for a few months and plant out over the winter. Also another delivery of red flowered pelargoniums arrived today, I am just dotting them in some bare batches around the garden for an instant shot of colour before our visitors arrive.

Half cut down some blackthorns and hawthorns, hoping to thicken them up as they make up a short hedge. Still have a guelder rose to cut back but will wait til it finishes flowering.  Found lots of things I think are ladybird eggs on the cut branches, lodged those pieces in my other sloes which are similarly infested with aphids (and pocket plum). That hedge can get chopped next year.

Emptied two butts on the garden as I noticed some things looking tired mid-week. It's not as warm now and is raining a bit which won't hurt.

Finally planted out my sweet peas- Giant Navy Blue in a pot on the terrace where I can keep an eye on them. Went to stick copper tape round the pot but there was only a small bit left - blast. Also planted the remaining pink Morning Glories in the only space I've got left. Used some twiggy sticks to train them up into the south side of the magnolia. Put a large and thick circle of Hort. sand around them to keep the slugs/snails away - hopefully. Bet both lots of plants get trashed overnight! Then OH shifted the arbour back onto the paving - we think the very strong winds we had last month twisted the arbour slightly so one upright had slid off the paving - despite being braced.

Planted the last of the nemesias,  watered a few things that were looking a bit droopy. Got the big pot prepared for climbing beans. Got very warm, but clouded over with some quite threatening looking clouds. No sign of any rain though.
Everything backing up a bit, foxgloves only started to flower this week, so the plants waiting to go in after them are just sitting in cold frames.
