" Battery Hen Time" @*Astrantia* .I  remember those days well.
  • Quick question about verbena bonariensis - if growing from seed, do you pinch it out at any point?  I'm eyeballing my seed starting setup and designed it so I can put tall seedlings on the bottom with plenty of room to grow taller, and I think that's where these will end up.  Right now they've only just sprouted.

I have only grown from seed in situ , @CrankyYankee , and here they take a while to get tall. Maybe if they are started inside they will get tall fast, but they are quite tough so maybe will harden off faster

You know you're mad when you're weeding with an old bent fork - in the half dark and when it's drizzling!

I have been out in the garden twice today, morning and afternoon. Cut a few things back that had been battered by the storms, titivated the soil and admired the hellebores.
Had to apologise to a bee that l disturbed whilst tipping one of the hellebore flower heads up to show my OH :)
    Love seeing an early bee.

The Sarcococcas are pumping out the perfume and the snowdrops etc are beginning to poke through. OH pruned back his grapevines.
Definite signs of Spring, hooray  :)

  • -5C and snowing, no spring here! :D

This morning I sowed the allium seed I'd collected from my own plants last year; we'll see how they do.

Much better today, some sunshine, not quite so windy and up to 10c. Went out twice and pruned more roses, admired snowdrops and my first 'tommy' crocus - one that the squirrels have missed! Fear there won't be many more however. Iris retic. appearing.
