Wow Bizzie Lizzie, what an impressive veg plot. I've been in my new garden a year now, it was a bit unloved and needed many hours of work but I'm finally starting to feel it is 'under control' and I've just dug out a very scrappy nettled and weedy area to use as a veggie patch. I'm so excited, I've never had a veg patch before. Any advise on begginers veg from everyone most welcome. So far I've sown some broccoli, runner beans and french beans in my green house, and I've dug in a few bags of manure to beef up the soil a bit. Looking forward to this new adventure.
Like you @Flowerpotlady I'm new to veg gardening and have been given good advice on here. As you have put manure into the plot the seeds you have already should like it. Maybe potatoes too. I have been told to not put root veg into manured ground, so have a section to which I have added grit to grow these. How about strawberries, I do find them easier in a raised bed though. Hope you enjoy your plot as much as I'm enjoying mine.😁
Purplerallium , Weather a bit strange first thing a bit of a frost and slight mist on field but sun is slowly coming out , should be a nice day , hopefully. Have a good day yourself
I have to re sow my beetroot. I left them on the windowsill yesterday went out to pick up a scaffold board and have just noticed they are no more . Onion are big enough now so they will go in today. Son is going to finish rotavating the rest of the veg patch tonight. Need to check my two plum tree's as they might need to come out.
Put all pot marigolds in the small lean-to greenhouse to harden off. Was growing polyanthus seeds in the conservatory but found they were starting to get greenfly so they're outside but they would have to go out sometime.
Thank you for the welcome and suggestions everyone, yes strawberries will be nice Purpler allium, and I didn't know that about root veg, all a huge learning curve but such an adventure!
