Lizzie27 , I would have thought Autumn would be the best time to move you asparagus plants , best of luck with it
  • @Lizzie27 Unless they are very young plants or you can get all the roots out without damage I don't think Asparagus likes being moved at all, but if you have to then now is the best time.

Finished off scarifying as the rain will start again tomorrow.

And built a new tool shed in the dark.

Is some deadheading.  Weirdly, the dahlias Id given up on and shifted to the Garden of Desolation are flowering better than ever and full of life!  Plants...🙈

Thanks @Allotment Boy and @GWRS. My existing asparagus are about 7-8 years old and are in a builders crate. I am hoping to move them into a new bed so you've confirmed I could do it now. I'll also get some new ones in case the old ones fail, I shall have room for a few more.

Oberlix , just tasted o/h carrot 🥕 cake 🍰, fab
  • Just picked the last of the cucumbers and a handful of carrots ( plus a few other bits I had in the cupboard) and made the last batch of veg soup for this year. Still have toms ripening so should get at least one more lot of tom soup.
    Plus another handful of raspberries.
  • Showery weather here, so in between the showers we took down 3 bird boxes, one had a beautiful feather filled nest which we removed the other two boxes were completely empty.  We plan to put some hay in the boxes and reposition them lower down the tree trunks (were at least 9ft off the ground) and hope they are used next year.  They were all facing north. I also transplanted some echium seedlings outside - we have 30 - 40 of them this year, so a good selection to choose from.

There’s several hazel nut trees at allotment so picked a load , beginning to tidy up ready for winter
A few hours in garden late afternoon after the mega down pour , planted up 3 hanging baskets with pansies and some dead heading

I potted 5 Turks Cap seeds, paved my potting area with cement "foot stones" where there was just mucky dirt, fertilized all my bougainvilleas, watered everything in both front and rear gardens and I planted some Calacephalus Beadhead seeds into their starter pots so they may be ready to plant out next spring.  Then I was plum out of steam.
