OH dug the hole for his Ruby wedding present (red seedless grapevine),  l helped him sieve the soil and mix in some decent topsoil as it was very sandy. When l say grapevine,  it resembles a stick with the top covered in that green gunk you find on roses. However, there are 2 large buds appearing,  so there is hope.
Dug out a tatty looking shrubby salvia "Clotted cream" that was way past it's best, and moved a couple of pots of clematis from behind the greenhouse to various locations.
Very warm in the sunshine, had to keep reminding ourselves that it's only April B)
    Time for a shower.

Gosh, hasn't everybody been busy!  OH has mown both lawns and forked over the 3 large raised veg beds. I've dug over my intended new asparagus bed (a pretty small one but it will have to do, just ordered 6 crowns). Potted up more hellebores, watered the pots and pulled down lots of old dead ivy stems off a tall viburnum.

Remember doing hanging baskets when we had a bedding plant nursery, they were kept in a polytunnel, one year a mother didn't control her son and he removed the labels of the people who had ordered them, what a mix up, something I enjoyed doing, miss it all now.

Sowed carrots and beetroot direct into the soil, covered with netting to keep the cats off.

Getting in the main crop tatties. On a bit of go slow, having lots of coffee breaks and just enjoy the weather today.

Another lovely day. Emptied some of the tulip pots, recovered as much compost as possible for future use.
Moved "gone over" pots of narcissi behind the greenhouse for the foliage to die down, and moved out the last of the clematis. Pruned back a couple more shrubby salvias.
Temperature in the greenhouse went up to 40 degrees, luckily l had some old net curtain for temporary shading.
Plan is to make a list of jobs that need doing (again).  Whether l stick to it is another matter !

Its cos we cant go out Lizzie! Normally we havent done much by now, because the old man is at work.  This year grass cut every week, patio and beds weeded.  Managed to get some bedding plants in Aldi and a click n collect in B & Q, so he planted up most of our hanging baskets, I always do them Easter Weekend, then they stay in the greenhouse, till the frosts have finnished are noce and bushy by that time.  I didnt buy any plants online this year, because I wasnt sure what the delivery situation would be like.He pruned and I shredded the Eucaliptus.
