Turned 3 compost bins and gave them a soaking as I went as they had dried out (the down side of very hot bins, all the steam is just water disappearing), 3 over flowing pallet bins have condensed down to 2 and a bit bins in 2 weeks. Dead headed and did more planning for next year, 6large day lillies, 4 rudbeckia and 2 huge ligularia to be divided this autumn/spring. Sowed some more rocket.

More painting and lining of planters - got 3 almost ready for action. Also made a new, improved cage for the broccoli/radish/lettuce patch as the broccoli had got too tall but need a more permanent structure with enviromesh to deny access to the flutterbys, etc. Bit of weeding, watering and more planning!

Mowed the meadow area, hired a big brush cutter as it has nearly killed my mower for the last couple of years. Put the grass around threes threes as as a weed mulch and the rest in the compost. Reduced the hedge height by 2ft bringing it down to height we can easily maintain, the new neighbours were desperate for this as it shaded a large area of garden so everyone was happy. Need to finish it today

Watered early before it got hot. Picked 10 more tomatoes,  and will be making tomato pickle with the glut.

I have cucumbers to pick but there is no way I'm going in the greenhouse now!  Anyway couldn't stand in the kitchen with the hob on anyway

Lifted the last of the maincrop potatoes, King Edward's, a CWT or so in store, will keep us going for the rest of this year.

Thats the pickle made. Wouldn't mind but the cooking toms (Roma) aren't ripe yet.🤣
