Thanks @Wilderbeast. That gives me the confidence to have a look at the elites more seriously! I may even come in under budget!!
I’ve no idea what I’m doing.

Spent some time this morning preparing an area for a raised bed that's being delivered on Monday.  Got some primroses, ferns and a pulmonaria planted. Dug a clem out of a very large pot and got it in the ground.  Hopefully by the middle of next week the area will look tidy and ready for my veg plants.

I have just come in and sat with a coffee. At lunchtime I went yo the garden centre and treated myself to a Hellibore. My intention was to get it in the ground. I had  an idea where it was going to go when I was in the garden centre. I put the pot on the flower bed and it just did not look right. I found a lovely spot for it and it looks as though it was made for this spot.

I then intended to go in but that did not happen. I sorted my pots in the shed, I weeded a flower bed, tidied my strawberry patches, fed and mulched plants and popped some seeds in.

I have now come indoors, feeling clear headed and with a massive sense of achievement 😁

Mowed the lawn in the front garden. Kind of fitted the water butt I bought in Aldi, hexagonal diverters and square downpipes don't play well together 🙈. Potted up some foxglove seedlings I found. Finally I spread my home made compost on the small bed, which is possibly the highlight of my gardening career so far, very satisfying!!

Sowed the last of the seeds indoors.  Pulled nettles from the veggie patch - yes, very satisfying @D0rdogne_Damsel as the ground was reasonably damp.  Maritime winds so tomorrow is promised to be raining.  That'll be good for here.  The vineyards are being flooded at the moment.
Sardines on toast tonight - my favourite.  Some good cheeses and a glass of red will finish it all off.
    Sweet dreams to all.

    Supper sounds good @tuikowhai34.

I I repotted  a small euronymus hedge cutting and stood it on an old chair to give it more height behind one of my compost bins. (Don't ask!).

Sowed the first batch of seeds today - tomatoes, mini sweetcorn, spring onions and some sweet peas (experiment, as usually buy plugs). I might have to move them round the windowsills to obtain enough warmth for germination.

I added some brown stuff to my compost bin 2 (cut-up dried Japanese Forest grass, which goes like straw over Winter, and some cardboard pieces) as I added some mulchy apples last week so it needed balance. Compost bin 1 can be emptied and used, then I can start that one again (over 2 years for that one, but I wasn’t very good with my mix and turning it).

  • Yes! Still working through the garden clearing last season’s growth, weeding as I go along, planning where I might plant annuals and squeeze in veg. So excited for the growing season on its way.

Managed quite a productive day in the garden, but the sunshine made it look a warmer than it was. Planted some raspberry canes, a pink currant and a white currant bush. Moved a few foxgloves further back in the border and mulched around hedge. Finished off the day with some more indoor sowing, a selection of vegetables and flowers. It’s the first year im trying to grow from seed rather than plug plants so fingers crossed. The first lot I sowed had some mould growing on the compost so I’m starting again. I think I overwatered first time.

Weeded and cut back the big 9ft×8ft bed today, it's made a big difference covering it in leaf mould mulch this winter.😁 Finished cutting up the tree trimmings, thats the bin full, and four bags to go to the dump. Pity I can't fit a compost bin in the garden.🙁 still so many jobs to do.🙄
