More tidying up of the perennials and a bit of trimming of this and that today, and still plenty more to go! Need to find a little spot for a couple of small Heathers, as I will need the pots they in. A job for tomorrow.

In laws came to collect there Tesco shopping (we have been getting all there food this last year) and brought 2 big bags of fresh grass clippings so i mixed it into the compost, it's got steam trickling out around the lid now.

The tree surgeon delivered a load of mulch so laid it around the new raised beds, it goes on really deep about 10inch but it'll sink right down. Need lots more as I'm covering all the grass around the greenhouse and veg area.

@Wilderbeast , we get bark Chipping's delivered free to the allotment car park and you just help yourself , I use them on paths , much better than having to cut grass

@GWRS it's not proper bark chippings it's whatever the tree surgeon sticks through the shredder, I use it as mulch and any really leafy stuff goes in the compost (I especially like laurel for composting)

Well I've taken my first real steps at veg growing.  Seeds sown today, Tomato Sungold, Leeks Musselborough, Cucumber Passandra.  Already sowed chillies and one of them has germinated.

  • Not much to do in the garden here in Alberta Canada. Still freezing at night. I did prune my apple tree this week and I've been putting my Pelargoniums in the greenhouse during the days.
