Bought some more topsoil & took it to the Allotment.  Managed to spread 4 bags before the rain came.

@Johnny canoe , hello , good to hear from you , weather a bit up and down , sun ☀️,rain ☔️ ,wind and hail
Been a bit to cold to start sewing seeds at moment
Did you have much snow this year ?
  • Hello GWRS, it's been a good winter, only one real cold snap and I only had to use the snow blower once, so far. My snow shovel has reached the end, I only got one seasons use out of it.
I see the Rocky Mountains from my house, solid white, should be a high river from the run off this spring.

Constructed some raised beds and staging in my new poly tunnel. I shall fill them tomorrow. Any hints on what compost to put in would be much appreciated 😁

Have you lined the bottom of those raised beds? If so you will be shortening the types of plants you can put in there. Are you planning to line those wooden boards, as the damp will get to them without. As for compost  it depends on what you are planning to plant. Need more input @MattPu 😁

Thanks @purplerallim .  Ah the good old debate about should I line my raised bed or not. Its weed prevention lining in the base, which I shall leave down as there were weeds growing underneath.  I know about worms etc, but don’t want a bed of weeds.  I’m not going to line the sides as its treated wood and I can replace if I need to.  The preservative is the non toxic one.  Its cladding so no water will escape through the join.  I think I’m going to lay in the following compost:
A third of each: My own compost 2 years old in base, farm yard manure, jacks magic.
I know this raises another debate about using Jacks Magic as it contains peat, but I have read many a story about non peat based compost and failing crops.

Don't mind the peat @MattPu , but the manure only if not planting root crops. Its the depth that would restrict some crops I was thinking of.

Good advice thanks for that 👍🏼

    Surprising how long not much takes in the garden;

Blood fish bone all over the beds

Watered pots and watered in BFB

    Sprayed weeds on driveway

Woodchip on bed, hurt the small of my back and took ages uncovering the leaves of the plants after/before:

Hoed/weeded the path borders and beds, my Lord the birch beds have practically grassed over

Added final bolts to clubhouse, added screws to loose bits and tidied up

Maybe put those blueberries in the ground tomorrow but still not convinced on location, have two hydrangea I can’t decide on either

Need the room inside, so planted the chitted potatoes. Got together the seeds for the vegetables under the closhe, but rain stopped play.
