Yesterday, I did about three hours of hard graft tidying, cutting back and potting on/up about 50 things (36 of which very very tiny... 'free' Gardener's World mag plants my mother 'made' me order! The plugs were about 1xm across!) I am very achy... Today, after finishing work, I gardened in the rain, potting on about 15 things - mainly herbs, and a Marshalls (Summerlast) tomato plant which arrived so late and were so very small, I had decided not to bother with them after potting them up. But it has tomatoes on it, so I took pity on it and some of its siblings.
I have quite a lot of things that need potting out, but can't decide where to put them (not from being spoilt for choice, alas). Might put a salvia or two where my sunflowers are.
  • Our long dry spell finally ended today so …. the garden has been well watered and is resting quietly.

Was up and about early doors. Emptied a full bin of compost into the finishing bin (its in a different area so a bit of a pain to move stuff around), this freed up space to allowing me a spare bin in the row of 5 for Turing compost into. Planted 3 delphiniums I bought at the weekend. Planted 4 large Wyoming canna plants that my sister in law couldn't be bothered to look after, she leaves them in the same smallish pot all year then wonders why the don't do so good

Well another early start out before 6. Turned the 2 bins of compost and was pleased to see that the meadow grass is breaking down down much better then past years, seems hiring the brush cutter mower was a good move all round. Fed the cannas, bananas, pumpkin and all the small pots. Back in and done by 715 ready for working day ahead

You spend a week away and it all starts to happen!
Strong winds tried to damage the climbing roses and dahlia.
The tomatoes ripened( have just removed 37 big ones) 10 cucumbers, a bag full of French beans and a bowl of raspberries
Then had to pick the plums 10lbs and from some of them made 4 lbs of jam.🥵 😋

Our 8x6x8 ft pyracantha is now a sorry looking 4x5x8 ft bush. It's still 8 ft tall though, so tomorrow the ladder comes out, and the 3rd load of clippings goes to the tip. I have holes and scratches all over, and really need to sweep the floor again before I go out barefoot.
