Just 'murdered' an old forsythia and cut back some ivy - roots of both out tomorrow then a day of shredding as I can't reach the bottom of the garden due to the build-up of material!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Removed a very large and viscious pyracantha so that hubby could get the ladders up to paint the house. Footing the ladder gave me lots of time to look at the garden and I have decided to change the shape of the lawn, just need the energy to do it now.
Was supposed to have an easy day today after using new society rotavator on Allotments yesterday. Started well went to one of our favourite GC but then decided to buy a new green wall system. We had a set of the canvas pouch type which have served us well for last 3 years but they are looking tatty & they dry out too fast in this wind. The new system will take plants in 5.5' pots or direct we like the idea of keeping the plants in pots as it means we can ring the changes more easily. So spent afternoon early eve dismantling the old system typically some of the screws in the old system were rusted in. Shoulders & writs aching even more now
@Pam’s Pastures so you should be. I love my tiny greenhouse (just 6'x4') but I grow loads of plants from seeds. Hope you enjoy yours.
In addition to footing ladders and planning a new layout for the front garden I took delivery of 3 magnolia trees (Susan, Stellata and Soulangeana). Got all three for £29.00 from You Garden Ltd. All good plants, 3L pots and about a metre tall. Very pleased considering how cheap they were.
I don't know if washing pots counts as gardening, but l'm claiming it ! Also planted out helianthus "Lemon Queen", a shrubby salvia "Violin Music" and a couple of penstemons variety unknown. Sorted out plants for charity shop with forensic precision and only found vine weevil grubs in one - all will be treated with nematodes just in case. Weather is definitely improving, sun is trying to break through the clouds
