Will pinch the peas out when they get a little bigger.
I've planted out, one lot of broad beans, but some of the flowers are blackened due to frost, the plan is to leave them in the ground, they may flower again once they've put on some new growth.
I'm sowing more seeds on damp kitchen roll this year and then potting on.
Have noticed some of the sweet peas have pushed themselves to the surface today, so rooting and soon sprouting I hope. Hubby has got this far with the shed and we cut up the wood ready for raised beds. Do you think 18" or 24" deep would be best. Wondered about the height off the ground making any difference to plants such as brassicas.
@purplerallim I don't think it really matters I would go with what you feel comfortable with and have the materials to build with.
We need to build a raised bed for herbs - are the chemicals in treated (6" x 1") wood likely to be a problem? From choice I'd stack up untreated oak sleepers, but that would cost an arm-and-a-leg.
Managed to get the shed painted before it started to drizzle (wasn't forecast). Still have a bit of edging to paint and then it's the playhouse and drive gate and fence. Looks like we're getting some sunshine over the net few days.
I have a question to ask of you all. As you have seen in previous pictures we are in the process of making a veg plot. In the last photo there is a wall with trellis which we will be putting a fence in front of for privacy. As it is a north facing fence/wall what kind of fruit tree would like this aspect with some sun during the day but not in full sun. I was thinking of putting something in a fan shape, but what? 🤔 All suggestions appreciated.
Potted up hellebore l purchased yesterday (great root system). Temperature in greenhouse had shot up to 38 degrees at lunchtime, bulbs in pots were collapsing. Luckily a bit of watering and they were upright again. Also watered outside pots of bulbs, wallflowers etc. Everything is looking quite dry which is a bit worrying. Cup of tea in the sun -- lovely, but l can't help feeling we will pay for this in a few weeks time. Edited to add @purplerallim, someone l know has a plum called Belle de Louvin (sp?) on a North facing wall, lovely plums.

espalier peach..
Peach trees need sun.
Pears are probably your best bet. Most fruit trees like sun, plums can manage with morning sun and afternoon shade.
Otherwise you could try fruit bushes such as blackcurrants or training a blackberry up the wall.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
No gardening yesterday, bad tum, but the day before I did over 4 hours. Rose, clematis and buddleia pruning, sweeping around the pots on the kitchen terrace, planting pansies, digging up buttercups from upper trellis bed.
