Put French climbing bean seeds on a wet tissue to hurry germination. Something has dug up and run off or eaten previous sowing from a container (I suspect it's the pigeon, he's been trying to balance off a bird feeder so he might be ambitious enough to rob a container). So annoying, but I'm cussed determined to grow my own. This time I'm going to surround the beans with voile, not even a tiny slug can get through that.
Pleased to see parsnips are up, they were sown around 2nd April, was thinking I'll need to re-sow them too. Why can't all seeds be like rocket? Think rocket is even quicker than radish to germinate, their name may provide a clue.
Now it seems the continual round of watering every morning, to be honest I love watering in the morning, it means I can get a good look how plants and seeds are faring.
Been painting the fence - if that counts as gardening. Years ago, my wife suggested (strongly), green, to blend in with the plants. I was dubious, but it works - and I have a happy wife!! But it needs doing every couple of years, and it's that time. The next few days are expected to be fine, so I'll be out there.
I'm beyond happy that most of the perennials and my potatoes hit hard by the frost have bounced back, all except my Tiger Eye sumac and the Joe Pye Weed.
I've begun sowing wildflowers and it's probably too early, but last year I tried to time it and was too late. Who knew this would be so tricky?
Any hopes of starting the garden design and planting in the backyard are dashed as I need to get the mule track in place, so that's going to be my focus for this year. Off I go to kill as much grass as possible. Does that count as gardening?

Metacomet soil with hints of Woodbridge and Pillsbury
Planted out some more pea seedlings and sweet corn. Sowed some (more) dwarf french beans and peas. Planted out the morning glory seedlings. Look good but have to surround them in pig wire to stop the pigeons and rabbits taking them before they can climb.
I put my tomato plants into grow bags yesterday with their grow rings, hopefully the peat free compost grow bags will work, I bet they will take a lot of watering! I’ve used so much water this year as I have used peat free compost to grow all my seeds and it dries out so quickly. So on one hand you’re saving peat moorland but the negative is the amount of water you need to use! When I stepped back to look at my tomatoes I thought how tidy it looked, almost as tidy as a @Sheps photo 😂
