I've done another long stint of trying to kill bindweed which is going berserk in this gen, a combination of lots of rain and warmer temps presumably. Ran out of containers for the weedkiller so resorted to stuffing the bindweed into dog poo bags and dribbling the stuff in. I also planted out a container full of baby cyclamen under a ceanothus.
Cut the grass, trimmed the overgrown edges of one section, pulled out a few forget-me-nots that were engulfing other things (plenty left!), sowed cucumbers, courgettes, ipomoeas and thunbergia alata, potted on some perennials to grow on for a while before planting, and fed the potted tulips. They've been great (Doll's Minuet and Purple Doll) so I think I'm going to feed them a few more times while they're dying off, leave them in the pots and see what they do next year.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
Spread a light 'flouring' of FBB over the potatoes before earthing them over again, it might be the last time depending if the promised deluge tomorrow washes some of the soil away.
Planted out 20 or so 'Mammoth' sweet peas, really pleased with the size of their roots thanks to the root trainers, and erected their 'wigwam'.
Planted dwarf French beans.

A very busy day here. We had a non-gardening friend visiting for over a week so have been playing catch-up hence apologies for my long list. Dug up last of broad beans. Planted tomatoes, squash and courgettes. Thinned carrots and beetroot. Emptied two pots of tulips Ice Cream and Blue Wow that failed miserably whilst others gave wonderful displays. Moved pots of successful tulips that have finished flowering. Planted tomatillos. Potted on malabar spinach and cabbage Elisa. Dug up some shallots that were showing signs of bolting - shared them with next-door-neighbour. Tried to force some unwanted Jerusalem artichokes on aforementioned neighbour but despite the language barrier he managed to politely refuse, aware of their "after-effects". Probably missed something but I've bored you enough

Yes I have! I've actually got my wooden steps almost finished! It was one step and two ugly concrete blocks for ages. Just got to tidy a couple of details up, and get some aubretia to fill a purposely left gap in the side and we're done!
A species foxglove that had died has been replaced by The Botanic Nursery and arrived today. Very impressed with the quick response from the nursery especially as we had asked for advice as to what may have gone wrong our end. So out planting it.
The ones I have just put out had four leaves so give them a day or two and then when you put them out they "hopefully " will be out of slug reach @Sheps It's warm enough for them to go out now.🤞
Unfortunately not. Had a back and shoulder massage this morning for what we think is a cricked neck and got strict instructions NOT to do any gardening this afternoon - most frustrating as it was warm and sunny for a change.

Lettuce are now huge, looks like my salad intake is going to go through the roof.
Also... would you pot on these French Beans or leave them a little longer?
