  • Does using what I picked last year count? I made a big batch of Raspberry jam from all the ones not eaten by hubby.
    Then put some in the bottom of these almond cakes
    😁
    Just to my taste ... OMG

    I my garden.

  • I moved my onion seedlings into the greenhouse, also the broccoli seedlings. Now I have some room in the conservatory to start sowing new crops. Watered the conservatory plants.

    @purplerallim , looks good & definitely counts 👍
  • I guess that so many of us have been gardening, that no-one posts here.
    I guess I'm the first indoors this afternoon.
    Done the first "sweep" of weeds from the front garden. More sycamore seedlings than I had expected.

    Been power washing the drive. Not really gardening but all part of the Spring tidy up. It’s a messy job and hard work bending and sweeping.

    Rain's been on and off all day, so in between spells I've been pottering. Tried to split a clump of dianthus only to realise that they don't split  :( So the bit I broke off I've managed to take a dozen or so cuttings, now I'm hoping for a good show of the highly perfumed 'Bridal Star' in a couple of months.

    A little more digging in the vegetable patch and weeding.  Feeling satisfied.  An hour a day is a good resolution.
    A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

    Been to allotment this morning
    planted first early potatoes 🥔 , going again tomorrow
    also did a potatoe sack which is in the greenhouse for the moment at home
  • Inside I sowed pansies and impatiens today.  I've been besieged by whiteflies and they've about pushed me to my limit.  Only 9 sea holly and 5 impatiens from the original sowing are still alive, and the buggers have now discovered my chili pepper seedlings.  Everything is getting a thorough spritzing with water and castile soap daily.  Lesson learned - no more overwintering herbs and annuals in the house, and from now on I need to sterilize any seed starting mix.

    Outside my gardens are still buried under a foot of snow.  Random areas are beginning to melt around the property and I can see bare ground in places.  Snow tonight but not enough to get bothered by.  So long as my raised beds are workable by mid-April so I can sow my snap peas, I'll be happy.  :)
