It would be @Lizzie27 if they weren't in bad books with the locals.
They own alot of land around our villages, but are in talks to cover a large area ( biggest in Europe) in solar panels, which in turn is a cover for a large power storage ( think the size of a good field) of batteries.  The solar farm cannot produce enough energy to fill more than a third of the space, and national grid will store energy to use outside the county. We get nothing but an eyesore, and damage to the countryside/wildlife.

@purplerallim , hello , I thought they had dropped that idea and using the Anaerobic Digester more ?
Only just found out that the solar panels in Branston are used to generate electricity for Branston Potatoes facilities In Branston

We have been using water from the washing up bowl , if it not to gungy for the garden
I’ve noticed that some flowers are going over faster in this hot weather
If it’s this hot now what’s August going to be like ?

Going to allotment early evening to water today

No Dyson are planning to make millions out of  renting the land, loosing farm workers , and using less to cultivate the land @GWRS .
The anaerobic digester idea at the moment has gone quiet, after it came out that all the waste was coming from chicken farms, was going to be the biggest in Europe yet again ( 9 to 12 domes, and would need a waste pond the size of 3 football pitches. Think how smelly that would be! The one on Metheringham Heath Lane gets complaints about the smell and it has only one!

@purplerallim , I can understand people not being happy
  • Planted out more chard, which had been growing in pots.

Not much today, pinched out some of the tips of the French Beans.

Some of the spuds have fallen over again so gave them a good watering and contemplated cutting the tops off as they have a fungal infection.

I had a route around and near the top was this spud, not too bad considering the early stage of 9 weeks.

So I'll leave them until they all flop or the fungal infection gets too bad.

Just done a bit of this and that today. Finally planted my pumpkin out and potted my ‘Tigerella’ tomato into its final pot.

I bought a bag of GC manure (for pumpkin and courgettes) and I’ve found mixing this with the peat free compost makes a good mixture - waters well and feels a good consistency so hope that bodes well.

The peat free / GC manure sounds interesting @AuntyRach I guess we'll all be trying different combinations to try and make a usable compost.

I am also really going to make efforts with my own compost as currently it is really an ‘extra’, but now it will also be an ingredient in my mixing experiments.  As my council garden waste bin is now only collected every 3 weeks (😡) I will try to compost more. I did a peat free and my own compost mix earlier on the season (because the one peat free was awful) and that improved it.

We’ll all be posting our recipes next year!
