I watered all our pots yesterday and some borders too as they were quite dry . We haven't had rain for a while now. Toady I have spent time in the shed, clearing out, cleaning the tools, oiling some tools, tidying up and potted on three cuttings from the Monarda plant. Very  enjoyable.
  • I decided to go and buy some small pots for my onion seedlings.
Because I have plenty of seed trays I want square 90cms pots.
Nearest GC. No individual small square pots. Continued to next nearest GC. No individual small square pots.
Came home in disgust. Went online. Wilko sells packs of 12 for £1.50. Is it worth ordering some?
I have decided to travel in the opposite direction to a 3rd GC which has a couple of big bins of empty pots, free.
With petrol the price it is I will have spent the equivalent amount I would have to pay in postage. So far I have not bought a single plant, although I did buy 3 packets of seeds. Still, quite an achievement to come home empty-handed. Almost.

Sowed some seeds in greenhouse, sat in sunlounger (also in greenhouse), my cat jumped on my lap and we both fell asleep. Not my most productive day but nice and relaxing :-) OH, wisely, waited until I woke up before doing the shredding ;-)

    Well done that man!

I did more weeding, found some crocuses that so far the squirrel hasn't (fingers crossed) and investigated where my dwarf daffs had got to - think I had planted them too deep and then replaced turf over them. Not a good idea.

OH cut the lawns for the first time this year.

  • I went to the 3rd GC this morning and found just what I wanted in the recycling freebie bin. Brought home about 3 dozen 9cms square pots.
I washed some of them and potted on some more of my onions. I will finish the job tomorrow, sow some veg. seeds that need a long growing period as well as pot on the sweetpeas which have rocketed up. Hopefully, I will be able to make a start on cleaning the greenhouse as well.
I did a partial water change of my aquarium which meant I wasn't able to complete the re-potting job. It is like a trip to the gym moving dirty water out and clean water into the tank when doing a water change but the fish seem to enjoy some fresh water.

Quite right too, he might otherwise have woken the cat  :open_mouth:

The strip along the other side of the drive that I had decided not to dig this year appears to have been dug! No idea how that could have happened. I now just have to knock the soil off the removed turf and dispose of that, then it's all dug and ready. I can't quite believe what I've done over the last couple of weeks, a bit pleased with myself I confess.

Find a quiet corner out of the way where you can stack your unwanted turf, upside down, to compost down for a couple of years. It would be a waste to throw it away.
  • Don't worry,  @Joyce Goldenlily, not wasted. It's mostly going to fill in some of the worst dips in the lawn, the rest will fill potential gaps at the bottom of the fence. I'd love to leave gaps to let wildlife in but that would let the little horror that is Alfie out. He can get through the holes in pig wire. (Should have stuck to big dogs).

@NormandyLiz, he knows better than to wake either of us  ;). Just joking, cat (Bella) is far more placid than me   :D
