  • @purplerallim The art is not to get them to wet, I use them for a lot of seeds but never parsnips before so will try anything once at least.

Pricked out some seedlings while waiting for my brew to brew and popped them in the blowaway with a fleece blanket... more work on the retaining wall today as hubby has the day off.. he’s not a manual labour person, but will work out exactly (to the mm!) how many sleepers we need, so has his uses, but hopefully we will get a bit done! 😁

As I really have no idea what I'm doing does cutting off bits here and there to make plants look tidy and that I assume are dead on my balcony count 🤔

Islander , your Montbretia sounds like hard work , I have some on the stream bank on side of house but a nice size and flowers lovely
Took some self seeded grasses out last year that I had neglected , needed an Axe in the end to chop  threw the roots

Every year I tell myself not to start sowing seeds to early but have a tray of pea's and another batch of broad beans to take to the allotment. Can the tips of peas be pinched out to make them bush?

Back garden has sadly been neglected due to decorating in the house taking priority. I've bought some hedge plants though and some logs to renew the raised beds. Just need to find a good day to start the redesign.
  • @Zoomer44 Like you I have peas and broad beans ready to go out and will as soon as I have the ground finished / ready then I will cover with cloches for a few weeks.

I always pinch out my early peas as you say makes them bush and has never seemed to do them any harm.

I also noticed the two cucumbers "F1 Baby" seed's sown in the propagator at home with no heat on Saturday 16th have germinate today  :)

Made up four six inch baskets of Ivy Leafed Geraniums, hanging on hooks in the glasshouse from cuttings taken late autumn, they will hang outside the glasshouse when the time is right.
  • I undercoated the allotment shed door & door frame today, only 2 years since the frame was re-done mind you it was treated timber. Not sure if that counts as gardening though.
