I constructed a cage out of four wire frame shelves. Unfortunately such is the cats' determination for a chemical high they're circling the cage and wrecking other plants in the vicinity. I have enough issues with having to clear their poo out of random areas in the garden I've decided to call it quits rather than persisting with something that's going to tempt them to spend more time in my garden.

Usual early run to allotment open up tunnel, watering and strimed paths around the perimeter then home by 09.00. Just home from a quick walk into village to pick up a few supplies for the weekend now on the terrace with a coffee and a naughty cream bun :p 🍰 watching the world go by.

Just thinking about going out to cut the grass. It's only 6 days since last time but it's grown like crazy.  Amazing what a good drop of rain will do (forecast dry for the next 2 weeks though so it won't stay looking good).
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Coffee and cream bun sounds good to me Hampshire_Hog. Just back from DIY stores with 6 bags of sand and two bags cement plus 2 packs of 8 ft cains, 9 tennis balls and a pack of cable ties to make fruit cage. Think I'll be busy this weekend.

I've just been out watering, feeding toms  and planting French beans, FOR THE THIRD TIME!!! Dont know what is wrong but only three germinated on the second try out of 16.🙄 Maybe last years seed is to blame ( never had problems before)
    Picked a posy of sweetpeas.

Gardengirl, I have a battery strimmer so not to noisy  :) it lasts long enough to do the bit of grass I have.

Purplerallim, I had the same issues with runner beans first two sowing's indoors came to nothing got seven plants out of thirty seeds "Firestorm" I to wonder if the hot weather last year affected some seed, sowed eight "Moonlight" direct ten days ago and they have all germinated, and all my direct sown french beans "Safari" have germinated fine.

Never had any problem with Isabel French beans before @Hampshire_Hog, and used them for years. Tried indoor sowing twice and now have planted the three and sown direct too . If they come up they come up if not 😕
