  • i store my seed packets in 2 shoe boxes. One for veg and one for flowers. I have put 12 dividers in each, one for each month of the year. This makes it easy for me to find which seeds to sow for each month. I try to remember to throw away left over parsnip seed each year because it doesn't last much more than 12 months for reliable germination, I also check each year for the use by dates, I know peas and beans will germinate for longer than their recommended dates, also a few other veg. but 2/4 years over is usually about the limit. I regularly sow old seed with my fingers crossed, making sure I have new seed on standby, just in case of failure.
  • I have prepared a large pot for the herbs.  We have sage, thyme, chives and I have just sown some parsley seeds so a mature plant will be also be included in the herb pot.  Also prepared some indoor supermarket finished frittillery bulbs ready to pot into a permanent pot ready for next year.  I have deadheaded daffodils and OH scattered some high potash over some of the outdoor daff bulbs. Two more boxes should see that job finished.

Well, my daffs are only just turning their heads down before they open, The soil is a quagmire, so I potted up a few more dahlias in the greenhouse. I saw a goldfinch having a bath in the water on the kitchen roof, but they don't seem interested in the feeders.
I will make some labels for the seeds to save a job when I do start sowing. The propagator lids have come off the  sweet peas now they are a couple of inches high.

Turned the veg patch, put some manure on the potato plot. Cut back the dog wood and Hawthorne. Helped hubby clean out the guttering and cut up the tree stump. Pulled the last leeks.

@Joyce Goldenlily I did the same this year as soon as I saw an article in the GW magazine about it. One box for indoors, one box for outdoors. Dividers for the start and mid-month starting from Feb to May. I might have to make some up for the fall months too. It makes for a very organized system, and ensures nothing gets missed.
  • Oh my word, I had no idea the idea was in GW. I made up my own boxes, some of the dividers are just pieces of cardboard cut from cereal boxes.
March 1st. today. Just taken out all of the veg. seeds for sowing in March, replaced the Feb. sowing packets. It keeps the packets together and tidy.

I wish I was that organised. Mine just get thrown in a box.

Mine are like that too @fidgetbones 😁 The only organisation I have is two bunches of seeds in rubber bands for early and late spring planting.😁
