    Moved moved a lot of stuff around before work this morning;

Daffodils - now have six distinct clumps in the front, not sure they’ll like moving though
Primrose - spaced them out and unmixed the colours
Rose - two roses moved, lined up now
Hydrangea - small one moved before it gets over crowded

Planted out three foxgloves, plugs from last year, and three gerbania

Three small ivies planted with cypress

Moved to trees to guard either side of the front door

Fair bit of weeding and removal of old tired clumps

All in a bit of a rush so so cleaning up to be done at the weekend!

Set up the seed trays. Planted Tomatoes ( black cherry and matina) Aubergine Jewel Jet ( hope it does better than last year) Dahlia ( dwarf mixed) and saved seed from last years sweet peas.
Trays of Antirrhnum and Gaziania are really coming on with the snap dragons big enough to pinch out. Do prefer that name.😁

Pruned back another clump of Japanese anemones and started to cut the old flowering stems off the lavender.
  • We were out during the morning, so did a quick hour in the garden this afternoon.  I potted up 10 geranium plantlets that arrived from Hayloft today.  They are basically roots with a bit of growth on top, so I have put them in 5 inch pots and hope they will all survive and grow into decent plants. OH did the daily deadheading of the 1,000 + daffs and tulips around the garden and house and painted two rescued concrete plant pots in the house masonry paint.

I can't believe it's early March and I haven't had chance to do any serious gardening yet - so much to do but it's either been raining or I've not felt well enough.
North East Somerset - Clay soil over limestone

I think most of us are at least slightly behind @Lizzie27, l know l am  :)
Moved the pots of clematis out from behind the greenhouse and gave them a general tidy up.
Also moved more pots of tulips and muscari from the greenhouse into posh pots in the garden.
Checked over dahlia tuber "Bishop of Canterbury" that has been wrapped in newspaper in the garage,  seems to have survived and no sign of rot.
Did a bit of soil titivating and weeding.
It has been a lovely Spring day here, real warmth in the sun, and a large bumblebee in amongst the pulmonarias  :)

Gurnsey D , just thought you have a lot of Daffs & tulips 🌷, must look stunning when in full bloom
  • Thank you GWRS and yes it does look lovely although the strong winds have made a right mess of the tulip petals. We have been deadheading the daffodils for about a week now.
