Fed the pots, clematis, roses and cannas today.  Did a bit of deadheading and tidying.

Feeding day for the toms. Watering the bedding. Picked a few flowers for a jam jar posy. All while washing and hanging out sheets and pillowcases( wont say bedding you may get the wrong impression 🤣) Want to do some weeding under the trees , but it's the baby bird nursery and every time I think they have fledged another new one pops up( this time a new blackbird and a wood pigeon) to add to the robins, sparrows and dunnocks. 🙄

No chance today, chilly and wet. Next week I shall be moaning that it's too hot.

Allotment opened up polly tunnel and watered hoeing and weeding and preparing space for more french beans.
Swapped a large punnet of strawberry for two cucumbers.
Will go back later to shut up, but spending the afternoon sat under the olive trees on the terrace watching the world at sea go by. ⛵⛵ ☀😎

  • Beautiful day here, so made the most of it out in the garden. Washing dry in no time.

I think (fingers crossed) that we may have found the leak in the pond system - the seal on the water pipe had water seeping out of it and so with re sealant setting today, we will be able to turn the system on again tomorrow.  We were having to top up the pond daily which we were able to do from our water butts when it rained or using tap water when the butts were dry.
I also potted up more petunias at the back. The leak was at the top of this stream where the water is fed into it from a standard pipe fitting.  Hopefully all will be well now. Jacob's Ladder small plant, grown from seed.  I am not a fan of blue or purple flowers but the bees most certainly are.

Took 20 cuttings from my bargain pinks - if they all take, they really will be bargains !
Sowed 4 different varieties of foxglove seeds. Potted one pink on and planted the other, watered all pots and baskets and fed clematis.

Busy summer solstice here! Mowed lawns, cut privet hedge, a bit of pruning and shredding of shrub branches that had got too long.  Thought I'd broken the shredder when it the motor stopped and just made a pathetic whirring noise, but I left it for 5 minutes and then it started up again.  Must have some sort of cutout mechanism that isn't mentioned in the instruction leaflet. Came in filthy dirty (hedge cutting always does that); now cleaned up and glass of red in hand.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Son and I finished clearing out the shed, then we took it down and took it all to the tip. Came back and clear the site ready to lay the cement but that will have to be next weekend if it's dry. Tied up the tomato's, now am going to cut the wood for the trellis and paint it.
