Trimmed a yellow privet topiary square and the euronymus hedge behind it. After lunch I cut all the allium christophii seedheads off as I don't want them to seed any more - now got a huge pile I don't know what to do with, seems such a pity just to bin them. Cut back the three clumps of Japanese Anenemones as they're trying to take over, they might have to go soon I think. Found a long bramble stem growing from the middle of my lovely Stipa Gigantica which is a pain as I thought I'd killed that last year!Generally tidied up the main border.

A bit of weeding  whilst the soil is damp and sowed some Sweet Annie next to my Clematis.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

Didn't get out until this evening, dug over a small area where the first earlies were, preparing for turnip seeds, found a few missed tatties. Watered, wandered about a bit, decided I really want to see an end to digging in the veg plot as my back was sore  :)

No gardening as its raining, haven't been out for two days as daughter came yesterday.  Haven't seen her since mid December,  didn't realise how much I had missed her, talking on the phone is just not the same. Didn't like not being able to hug🥺 Today feel weepy.😭

No gardening today, mother nature is busy doing the watering. Nice heavy showers, she's doing a proper job of it.  :)

P.S. Yes I have as the long awaited (two months late) plants arrived so had to pot them up. Not sure how they will do as they are only between 3 and 6" tall having been cut back not long ago, as there is not much re -growth and a bit droopy. How I am going to get then into the beds I don't know, as the plants they were supposed to go with are two foot tall now.🙄 Also don't know if enough of the season is left for Salvia, penstemon, Echinecea and Osteospermum to make full size🤔

If it were me @purplerallim, l would grow them on and plant them out next year . By the time they're big enough to go out l should imagine we'd be well into autumn. That's considered a good time to plant, but l'd take cuttings from the penstemon, salvia and osteospermum as insurance if you have enough plant material.
Planted out some box plants and irises as some much needed space appeared in the front garden. Dealt with some hydrangea cuttings before heavy rain showers stopped play.

Don't usually take cuttings @AnniD as I only have an unheated greenhouse,  would they survive -1 in the winter?
