Such a change in the weather, 12 degrees and only dropping down to 10 degrees overnight apparently. Pruned the buddleia and roses and lightly forked over the soil. General pottering. Pulled out dead material from various plants. Watched a tiny bee flying in and out of the snowdrop flowers. Hard to believe everything was frozen just a few days ago. All in all, 3 hours in the garden. Lovely jubbly
I finally got outside! Dug the back border from scratch(new build) added edging and planted my apple, cherry and raspberry canes which have been in pots for years so a pretty exciting day. Although I've just remembered I've put the tree stakes in and forgotten to tie them on! I'll sort that now. Just the last cherry tree to go but I've run out of soil so have ordered more for Wednesday. Fingers crossed I get a dry spell! I also need to straighten my edging up, it s a bit wonky but Ive completely run out of energy so it will do for now. So nice to have a bit of sunshine.
Hasn’t it been fantastic today! We got a bit of sun which was very welcome. Lots of cutting back today, just the pond area to do but I always leave that until the frogs are in the move. Sowed leeks, beetroot, aquilegia, cobea, echium, echinacea and poppy seeds. Got loads of turf removal and digging to do this week- want to make the most of the soft soil before it bakes and I need a mattock! Happy days! 😃
Such a happy change to have warmer weather. I didn't want to go mad and overdo it so have just weeded a couple of raised beds which I can do without bending.
Finally got in the garden. Pruned 90 per cent of the roses, cleared away Hellebore leaves, pulled out lots of dead foilage, dug out two roses and moved lots of pots around ready for the raised beds for the veg. Really enjoyed myself, but I'll suffer for it tomorrow.
I got in from work yesterday and was straight out into the garden for a potter for 20 mins. I stayed out over an hour, only coming in because the light was fading.
I turned the compost. Had a good tidy round, pruned what I knew would be ok to be pruned now. I filled my garden waste bin and broke my secateurs.
I managed a general tidy up and a bit of cutting back. Today I am finally going to finish digging over a flowerbed I have been trying to get done since before Christmas - hopefully anyway, I so often get distracted and end up in a completely different area.
