First real day in the garden today, mostly spent tidying up. Cleared the shed out and swept it, then started clearing a lot of the dead plants left from last year.

Felt good to be out there
I’ve no idea what I’m doing.

Yesterday we got properly stuck into the greenhouse and ended the day with the entire frame up and nearly ready for glass. It's looking good, be even better full of tomatoes 🍅🍅🍅
  • It was lovely and mild here yesterday... I finished my replant of the front garden with a flourish of Carex oshimensis 'Everest', to complement the Daphne bholua I planted before the frost (!) and two Acanthus mollis 'Whitewater', and mulched everything. Then I went in the back and transplanted a Mahonia aquifolium 'Smaragd' and one sulking hellebore. Today I have to clear a path in the back (currently full of clippings and bags of mulch) so the gutter cleaning man can gain access!

Lovely to hear of everyone getting stuck in to some gardening, I've been doing the same yesterday and have the same planned for today.  Already filled the brown bin! Need to finish tidying the greenhouse and tidy the messy corner.  I tell myself everyone had a messy corner but I'm trying to make it less glaringly obvious!!
Hope everyone had a lovely day out there!
  • I can't do much more as the brown bin is full, and with the bin men isolating for a week it's all getting behind. Hopefully they are starting again this week,  but not sure if green bin will be taken. I have a pile of branches waiting to be cut up and still a couple of bushes needing to be trimmed. Am wondering about using the field maple as pea sticks, but not sure if they would root in the weeks they would be used.🤔

3 hours in the garden this morning.  Finished clearing borders, pruning roses and cut and edged back lawn.  It's all ready now for FBB and mulching.  Still need to sort the greenhouse out and the front garden still needs some work but feel like I'm on top of things now.  Have a new raised veg bed and compost arriving in a couple of weeks so want to get sorted so that I can spend time on that.

@purplerallim , as long as stick are completely dry and dead would be ok
Did use some willow sticks at allotment and they started to grow as they hadn’t dried out properly
Went to allotment this morning, just about to go in garden and do a bit of tidying up
  • These maple are fresh cut @GWRS , that's why I was wondering if I could use them

started to prune front hedge but had to give up after an hour because back began to twinge. Probably shouldn't have even tried to do anything but it felt good to get outside.

Got the 3-pronged bush down to stumps and started on digging out the roots. Potted a few things on and re-potted a couple of ill looking cuttings that were in the blow away. They're in the back porch now so I can keep an eye on them.

Anyone know what this is? I reckon it is a bog-loving weed that isn't averse to regular consumption of cat urine :o
