Was in and out between showers today. I have, regrettably, pulled up my peas - they were munched to oblivion. Potted up some home-grown Cosmos in the tub instead. I also had to remove some white Salvia as they were being eaten, so they are in a pot until I decide whether to move them somewhere less vulnerable or keep in the pot. This is why I have a million* pots and only shrubs in the borders 🙄
Day off here also, other than obligatory container watering, which I just finished. The rest of the garden has seen the odd shower today. Don't want the veg plot too wet, planning to hoe if it is sunny in the morning.
Gave the containers a feed in the morning, then set about making a trellis for the narrow section by the patio door. Shifted the big terracotta pot and planted up 2 Clematis and other bits into the pot. Washed the decking. Oh, went to an NGS garden, gave me plenty to think about!!
Feels like the wind has damaged everything but its just things that are most important to me; grapevine, potatoes, dahlia, onions..beech, conifers. Even the roses looking a bit battered
Did a fair amount of overdue deadheading.
Pulled out a load of bindweed thats started building up in the far corner again.
Cut the lawn on the 2/3 setting after leaving it mostly alone for a few weeks. That looks a tad better recovering from the hot spells we had a few weeks ago.
Very blustery here today. Not a day for hoeing, so clearing out boiler room thingy at back of house, ready for new boiler being fitted next month. It's a dumping ground for manure bags, muddy wellies, gardening gloves etc, so garden related! Planning on digging up the last row of first earlies later today, think I missed some side shoots on the tomatoes as couldn't figure if they were side shoots or main shoot, so will take another look at that.
Got help from son, so abandoned digging up spuds etc, instead boiler room and potting shed now cleaned out. Potting shed is going to have to double as a storage shed for tools cement bags etc while we put the patio in (which will be next to it). Looking forward to getting that job done and peace returning to the potting shed. Keep having thoughts about a greenhouse...
