My snowdrops are all out they must  like my garden soil and I have lots of them. I also  have some real Primula Vulgaris. Not the taller growing cultivated primulas.

I did a freecycle swap to get my primroses. Its a really good way to get plants.

My primroses and anemones are being eaten in the bud! I think its birds maybe pigeon or blackbirds,  most annoying.
  • I took the wife to the allotment this morning her first venture out since she was ill didn't spend a long time just a look around and check out the seeds happy to say the broad beans and peas have all started to germinate.

T sat on the small patio area in her chair and had the bl***y cheek to say if I needed any advice just ask ! that's the last time I take her out to play :)

In the middle of building a retaining wall for the patio area, other half has gone to get posts so sat in the sun until he gets back.. glorious day! Brought my seedlings out for some air and good light as it’s so warm, they are happily sat under a cloche to keep off the breeze! 😀

Went to Ashwoods last week and they had mowed the lawns ready for the open day, if it's good enough for John Massy it's good enough for me.  Lawns got their first cut today and look good.  No rain or frost forecast for the next few days so they should be OK.

OH cut some of our grass this morning.  I am going to sort out seeds this pm but then sew, rather than sow.   Still very frosty at night here and the PT is unheated.

I've just been out to peg out the washing and there was an enormous bumblebee on the crocuses, and some ladybirds out sunbathing.

OH had moved my big plastic crate with all the seeds in it to the floor of the shed to get at something and then not put it back on the shelf.  Meeces and rats have been at them.  Lots fewer seeds to sort...........    Ho hum.

Islander - are you really sure you want to live on your island!!! Sounds dire, most of the time.
I'm still trying to tidy the garden and need some more leaf sacks. Took photos of my lovely orange witchhazel, with purple crocus underneath. OH sawed in half the big berberis branches we cut down recently and I've hidden them behind the log store (ran out of room!). Watered plants in greenhouse. Put a seaweed feed on a poorly box ball and the old Clematis Armandii. Turned cold after lunch so now resting inside.

  • I attacked the root ball of a hydrangea I chopped down a couple of weeks ago. I managed to get rid of the main bulk and I'm now left with some large sideroots that disappear under brick and concrete. Not sure how I'm going to get them out and I'd rather avoid a chemical solution.
