Done a lot in the past week so a rest day today. I used the fine weather for some shed repairs & painting of door & new frame. Then as the warm weather persisted & 'had' to strim grass paths & roads then mow. I also strimmed the grazing rye green manure and rotavated it in. Still have another patch on the 1/2 plot to do but at least I have some ground ready for when its time to start sowing & planting.
Did get the new felt on the shed, unfortunately run out of time today (other things to do) will go back tomorrow and to fit some batons to help hold it in place this time need to do it before store Freya arrives on Sunday
The Salvia patens "bright blue" seed collected and saved from last year and sown last week have started to germinate

We didn't have enough rain yesterday so I thought I'd better water all the front door troughs and pots and the ones on the terrace - crazy, this time of year. The cherry blossom is in full bloom and the magnolia stellata just coming out. I'm hoping we won't get the high winds forecasted for Sunday. Our Garden Club's Potato Day is tomorrow with Pennard Plants so will be stocking up.
No gardening today as it has been damp - but also because I overdid it a bit yesterday; in the morning the park volunteers cleared a triangular bed which was covered in ivy and had been used as a dumping ground; in the afternoon I emptied my shed of the 22 bags of prunings which had been stored there to keep them dry, and burned them in the incinerator. Amazing to find all that material reduced to 2 inches of ash this morning.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I did noticed that in the last day or two my pair of white Echinacea Coneflowers have sprung in to life, with the first shoots appearing through the soil. Given their reputation for disappearing in our wet winters I was kind of hoping they'd die to give me an excuse to replace them with some purple ones.
Haven't done anything over the past couple of days (have been on Nanna duty). Hoping to get more of the fence painted over the weekend and get more seed sown.
Right, gardening trousers on for the first time in 2019;
Mowed the lawn, parts were 10” long, and started the new heap with the cuttings...will probably relocate before it develops too much but I still have not used last years compost
Strimmed the neighbours overhanging everything and filled the council brown bin with it. Also my laurel tree got a quick sweep and a cotoneaster that’s hassling my wife’s car!
Tidied up some of the garage, and partially sorted out the recycling bins...we have more cardboard than I can compost, about 2 cubic meters...
Then my toddler woke up from her beauty sleep...so I took her on a garden tour and went on the swings with her She didn’t want to leave the garden but she still has a cough to get over
