Purperallim , I had some BFD go a bit mouldy so just dug into one of the veg beds at allotment , didn’t do any harm

OH dug out 2 huge pyracantha from the back of the border, which meant I had to dig out all the stuff from in the front of the border so that we could get at them. Both now chopped up ready for the tip and the plants from in front split and redistributed elsewhere. Next job is to dig out the rubbish, put up some trellis and improve the soil,  then I can decide what to grow against the wall. I already bought  a clematis  but the gap is about 3m so room for a climbing rose as well (don't tell OH that, he thinks I'm  getting obsessed with roses)
The border is about 2m deep so plenty of room for pretties in front too.
  • You have all been incredibly industrious I feel so inadequate!  OH still clearing weedy lawn ready to re-seed.  I admired his work!  I also spent some time looking at my seedlings and I am planning to pot up some of the larger ones tomorrow.
Yesterday I swapped plants with a gardening friend - very satisfactory.
  • Did some gardening at the community garden, planted polyanthus, garlic and dig some weeding and digging areas for two fruit trees, lots of daffs ou,t had tea break in the metal storage container as raining then

Don't worry @Guernsey Donkey2, I haven't been industrious today either! Bad back still twinging so having to take things very carefully. Did manage to walk slowly to the dentists this morning but bussed back. Rain then stopped play but managed to take photos of part of our hedge, as I was told it was a variety of Euronymus ovata something, which was news to me. It's being severely chopped back on one side on Monday so I hope it survives, although the old box bushes may not.

My dad told me to always buy a plunger before you need one.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Need go to allotment and repair shed roof as some of the felt blew off yesterday  :/ so first its a quick run to the builders merchants to pick up felt and batons totally in the other direction of course.

Just hope it stays dry for long enough to fix it.

Good choice to do it today @Hampshire_Hog as the weekend looks to be wet.
  • A good day for repairing roof Hampshire_Hog.  I will be checking out supplies today before OH goes to the GC to buy gravel, potting compost etc. Also planning on potting up echiums that have seeded in the wrong place, to plant in a more suitable part of the garden.
