  • Faffed about with plants this morning, shall I or shan't I spend time and effort watering - decided not to as we are supposed to have rain tomorrow.  Did top up the two ponds with more water though.

OH mowed the lawns a few days ago. It's been so warm and sunny, 20° today. He pruned the wisteria today.

I did quite a bit of weeding while staying with my daughter. Home now. I've pruned Madame Alfred Carrière, The New Dawn and started Meg. Madame Alfred was a mess, taken ages, don't think I got around to her last year. Ivy has grown all over Meg's pillar, pain in the neck.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Cut down the old sedum heads, they'd virtually disintegrated anyway. Just in case there were any ladybirds etc. I left them on the beds for a day or so. Rain is forecast for tomorrow afternoon, so OH helped me scatter chicken manure pellets on the beds. Tea and biscuits on the patio, both in T shirts!
This has been very pleasant but tbh, l'm glad that the weather is turning back to more normal temperatures.
  • @islander - the place we're hoping to move to in Co.Clare is Scarriff, where Seed Savers are based.   :)  There's also a community garden, which would keep me out of mischief...

Lots more pruning and tidying today.  The weather is supposed to break tomorrow, but hopefully it won't rain until the afternoon, because I'm volunteering in the park in the morning.  I think we'll be clearing brambles in the wood.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

My Mantis Tiller got its first outing of the year yesterday.  Veg plot all gone over and I think I'm friends with the blackbirds for life.  They were all over it once I moved off.
Good timing on my part too by the look of things as it is now raining quite heavily here.

Just mowed the lawn before the rain is due- didn’t realise how long it was!
  • Did a 1000 steps by 9am today. Picked up some mess left by OH while cutting up shed. Fed birds. Decided to feed beds as it gave rain later, but the blood, fish and bone had got damp so was mouldy on top, so put some manure on instead. The bag was too heavy to lift so was back and forwards with smaller loads. Good job I did as now it is raining, so came in and watered seedlings. Bad news is snowdrops are fading, they were lovely this year.

Have been pruning roses but need OH to prune out the larger stems as neck and back won't allow! Still have two large shrub roses to reduce and then I can give them all a good feed. Lots of dividing still to do.
