I’ve supervised the Under Gardener de-mossing the front ‘lawn’ with the spiked rake head on the Titan. He did well for a first timer ... a whole wheelie bin full of moss 👍
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Have started painting the fence, not a job I like, but it needed doing. The panels were about 4 different shades of brown so I am coating them all black. The garden was looking pristine after I spent the last week working on it. Hubby decided to cut back the tree in the centre of the garden which is covered in ivy, now it looks a right mess and the garden is covered in cuttings and leaves. Not speaking to him at the moment, I'm fuming.
Did quite a bit today. I started battle with my two large Phormiums - they are pretty tricky to prune as old stuff needs pulling out from the base (kneeling and getting head in) and then unwanted leaves need trimming off with a scissors - they are tough beasts. I was side-tacked into painting a bare trellis (my Clematis Miss Bateman went totally brown last year so I chopped it down to the ground and there are signs of life I think) which was quite a fiddle. Did a general potter and that was all afternoon gone!
More bramble pruning today all finished finally done -hands have had enough and my coat litttle tears, on plot planted a forsythia so hope to have some nice yellow flowers soon
Busy today until after 3pm, but I managed from 3.30 until dark in the garden, pruning various shrubs which really needed it, including my beloved Rosa glauca. It had outgrown its space, and sprawled into the neighbouring Magnolia stellata, so it's had a proper hack. Tomorrow I'll feed it and hopefully it'll spring back better than ever...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Spent four hours at the allotment today planted five Prunus spinosa into the native / wildlife hedge I'm creating at the edge of my plot, and the final three roses into the seating area, two I know the names of Twiggy and Natasha Richardson the other I have lost the label so will probable be asking for assistance later in the year when it flowers.
Also did more preparation in the poly tunnel, the broad beans and peas sown a couple of weeks ago are doing really well in there and I put a couple of trays of seed started at home in there today Lady's mantel and Chinese lanterns.
Plus a bit of pottering and sitting in the sun.

Well I'm pleasantly surprised with my sweet peas . Last year from two packets only 9 plants germinated, very disappointing. This year one packet each of old fashioned and horizon have all germinated but 5, I'm going to have lots of them all over the garden🙂. The tom's are doing just as well the bought Roma being the best, but the seed from last years black cherry are nearly as good( I know they may not come true as there was a chance of cross pollination but as the fruit were the last in flower at the end of the season I have hopes) just hope the rest of the seeds I plant next month do as well.🙂
Spent a few hours at allotment rotavating and removing more rubble and large stones passed over it four times and at last I think I have removed most of the big stuff and the soil is becoming finer.
I now need to get my cloches in place ASAP but will dig each area by hand just to check for anymore rock's before raking and putting them in place.
It's taken nine months to get to this stage but I think / hope it's all been worth it only time will tell 🥕🥕🥕

Much to my annoyance, my bad back has twinged again, so had to rest much of the day, but the beautiful weather overcome caution after lunch and I've done a bit of light pruning of roses and pyracantha, trying hard not to bend too much.
