Can I have yours then, Philippa?  :D
Bit early yet for little 'uns in the garden, but the blue tits and dunnocks and sparrows are all looking very busy, so hopefully there'll be some soon.

So where are the Somerset Levels then?

You have all the fun to look forward to Fairygirl  :)  Just wish the flippin' robin would stop tracking me like radar, he makes me feel guilty if I'm not digging or raking  :D

I enjoy the sparrows when they bring their little youngsters, herbaceous. They always look so proud of them  :)

I remember watching the news (and the weather forecast) over the 2014 new year as my village was flooded (missed me just! ) and feeling really sorry for all those employed in the countryside. At least we had Prince Harry with his sandbags, such a help  ;)

So I'd better put the wellies away again then but you are not putting me off! Goldfinches? The most exotic (and annoying) birds I get are parakeets usually trying to raid the bird feeder

I just love all the baby birds Fairygirl, even the rambunctious starling babes. You're right the parents do look so proud - and occasionally a bit flustered.

Talking of strange birds we had a Quail on our hedge ,  it was the strange noise it made , took ages to find it in the bird book , I known it not a native but somebody nearby sells quail eggs so assumed it had escaped

Sorry philippa smith2, I realise they are a quirk of someone's lifestyle (although the stories of their emergence are as colourful as the birds!) so rant away. My irritation is caused by the fact that they seem unable to fly without screeching and when there is a flock it can be quite noisy

Quail GWRS, now that is exotic.

Lovely large peonies in Lidl. I didn't get one -nowhere to put it. If you fancy one, I'd get one before they dry out and are fit for the compost heap.

I'm very pleased with myself, (although OH won't be!) got my bolster chisel and hammer thingie out and knocked down the small end wall on the rockery. I want to dig out enough space to park our two green bins out of the way. Took me over 4 hours and I'm now knackered but happy. While the cat's away ………….
