Had a lovely weekend in Ireland, in County Clare visiting the house we're in the process of buying.  A fab welcome from the vendors (including sandwiches, scones and apple pie!), and the garden is full of birds, butterflies, brambles and possibilities...   :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I'd been worrying about how to keep new plants watered while away on holiday for 2 weeks from Sunday.  We have very new neighbours who don't have much interest in gardening so couldn't ask them.  I've been experimenting with the drip irrigation system I use for the pots and troughs, and have discovered that it has enough oomph available to feed into a couple of Growbag trays. By fitting an in-line tap in the microbore I can limit it to just a few millimetres of water each day.  Assuming the warm weather holds it shouldn't drown anything when I'm away.  Even if I do lose one or two, it's better than risking the lot by not watering at all.

Treasure! I had to do a site visit this morning due to help a groundworker digging a foundation. He'd hit a deep layer of ash and junk that looks like it was a Victorian rubbish pit. They were happy for me to pick through and I've come away with all kinds of interesting bottles and jars. The old jars will make great plant pot covers too.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

That sounds fascinating Wild Edges. I'm still hoping to find a Roman coin here as we're on what used to be the Via Julia route out of Bath up to a Roman fort nearby.

Had the cataract in my left eye removed yesterday. The first was done in January and I can see colours properly now with no yellowish haziness. Looking forward to my brain catching up and focussing both eyes together over the next couple of weeks.

A friend of mine has had the first done.  Vision so much improved once recovered she went on a cleaning fest!  2nd eye due to be done in a couple of weeks and then, no doubt, another cleaning fest.
