Sick to death of the endless B***** moaning, and the horrors of recent events?
    I am.
    I heard this story yesterday.
Look at this link  - and be heartened that there are still good, kind  people around in this ever increasing sh***y world.

We have no written constitution (and who would trust anyone to write one, given that no one in parliament seemed able, two years ago, to foresee the problems involved in expediting Brexit). However we do have rules and precedents re the ordering of parliamentary business and they have to be followed ... to do otherwise would lead to mayhem.

    ... see what I did there?  😉

That's a great story, Fairy.   :)  I'm sure there are just as many good and kind people around as there always have been - they tend not to be "newsworthy" though so we only hear the sh***y stuff...

Exactly my point. Rules are for everyone ( in Parliament as everywhere else ) , not just those who choose to obey them .
Surely there are banks of lawyers, civil servants and "advisors" who should have been aware of The Rules? . If anyone should be criticised over this , it's them.

It's unbelievable that the Cabinet are saying this took them completely by surprise.  The Speaker had been asked in Parliament to make a ruling on whether it was constitutional or not to put May's proposals for a third vote, and said he was looking into it.

    Their arrogance is breathtaking.

Obviously the Cabinet doesn’t read the News , The Speakrs intervention was one of the possibilities on the BBC news web site before it happened !

Which is why we have this thread!

I was present at a similar situation last year, though not involving such a distance.  I struck up conversation at a bus stop with a worried young man who was waiting for a bus to go and see his wife in hospital.  She was seven months pregnant, and had just been for her regular check up with the midwife.  The midwife had found something amiss and admitted her to hospital for investigation.  Another man who was close enough to overhear walked away a little and took out his mobile phone.  A minute later, he walked back, and said, "I'm not waiting for a bus, I'm waiting for my wife, she's picking me up in the car. I've just had a word with her, and we're going to run you to the hospital."

And this is my favourite feelgood story, which I hope is true: . A little boy who had been having cancer treatment was well enough to return to school, but his hair had yet to regrow following chemo.  At the morning assembly, the head explained this to the children, and said he would deal severely with anyone who teased or bullied him about his baldness.

At the morning break, there came a knock at the head's door.  A cluster of children were there, saying, "Please, Sir, will you give us permission to have our heads shaved, so he won't feel the odd one out?  That way, if anyone gives him a hard time, they'll have us to deal with."
