Evenin' all. Belated birthday greetings r'girl. Hope you were able to enjoy it considering the circumstances. If I never had to get on a plane again, it would be too soon Busy day painting - my arm aches now. Guys got on brilliantly and have finished the wall. They just have a little infill to do where the frame meets the existing corner, and the gaffer will come back and do that. Scaffold to come down tomorrow. Then when the ground defrosts, I'll repair the damage to the garden.... One of the little female blackies was tucking into the apples while I chatted to the men just before they went away. She was completely unfazed by us all standing just a few feet from her. Wee soul
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Hello all. I hope you had a good birthday, Dove, sorry I missed it. Same day as my son 1. I hope you are having a lovely birthday, Raisingirl and that the cake is as yummy as it sounds.
I hope Moira is feeling a bit better.
We came back to France yesterday. Plane took off on time but arrived at Bergerac in a howling gale, had 2 failed attempts at landing. Very scary, could feel the plane tossing about in the wind, people were screaming. Pilot had to go back up and call for advice. He was told to try Bordeaux. He managed to land there and we were told that coaches would take us back to Bergerac. Eventually 4 large comfortable coaches arrived. It was rush hour, took over an hour to get out of Bordeaux. Arrived at Bergerac over 4 hours late.
Housesitter waited for us and stayed the night. The house was surrounded by howling wind. I cooked prawns and peppers from the freezer with red onion and sweet chilli sauce and rice for the 3 of us. HS had bought some pecan nut with caramel ice cream for pud.
This morning the sun came out but was overtaken by tipping rain. The river in the village is very full and muddy brown, I think there must have been quite a bit of rain while we were away. We went shopping to the SM and to lunch in the Chinese buffet Wok place.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Evening. Just reading back. Happy Birthday raisingirl - had the cake yet?? Mixed feelings for you, so hope today has been ok. Nice Wintery pics. Hope you all ok and all germs, ailments and unwanted weather soon disappear.
Evening all. I have survived shopping with Possum starting with going to fetch the replacement robot. Needless to say the old model is no longer available but they offered us reduced from 899€ to 599€ so only 60€ to make up the difference. Yes please. Not in stock so collect next week. Very impressed as the dead one was within a week of its guarantee running out.
Then off to the shopping centre - new to me as haven't been before. Found her a new cabin luggage case on wheels as the handle no longer works on her old one. Then tops, pants, no shoes but can't have everything. Last stops were craft shop and SM for bits and bobs for dinner. Sticky stir fry vegetables and rice noodles. Tasty but unpleasantly gloopy. Only one more vegan day to go thank goodness.
You must be relieved to be home and safe BL. Serious winds here last night and lots of people with no leccy. Trees down too but only branches round here. However, the ground is now so wet I expect a lot will topple if we get more winds like that.
Interesting results on the Twinstitute about hand cleanliness and bugs. Soap and water are far more effective cleansers than the alcohol stuff. Wonder if that'll change things in hospitals - all those squirts as you enter wards and so on.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
I was relieved, Obelixx, it was frightening. At least the captain explained what was going on. I was surprised that the wind was worse in Dordogne than Bordeaux. Usually the other way around with Bordeaux being by the sea.
Thanks for the info about soap, I was watching something else and missed it. I'd wanted to know the answer.

Glad you eventually got home safe and sound @Busy-Lizzie ... rather you than me 😧 ((hugs)). Sounds like a fruitful shopping trip @obelixx ... but again, rather you than me 😉 Time for 🛌 now so sweet dreams all 😴
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I’m glad you landed safely and eventually got home BL. Sounds very frightening.
Another disturbed bed night here with warm temps and lightning around the hills flashing on and off all night. Pretty sunrise though with the clouds. Our power came back on about midnight, and the flashing alarm clock woke us yet again.
Sounds terrifying Lizzie 😱. Glad you got home safely
Last day of veganuary for Possum .....life gets easier from tomorrow 😉. Littlest chicklet had a BF who was vegan - came to stay with us last summer. They seemed to spend their whole time in the kitchen. Its a lot of effort.
Meant to be going to Brighton for a concert tomorrow evening. Have a horrible feeling that snow might ruin my plans 😫
