    Hello all!

Lovely to hear the birds around here too - the robins in particular.  And last night a tawny owl sat on my garden gate for 20 minutes, "twitting" away in the dark.   :)

In this house we are listening to one lot of news headlines per day.  Any more and we'd be going completely bonkers.   :|

Perhaps the politicians could be persuaded to limit themselves to one public utterance per day, thus freeing themselves up to use their brains a bit more ... obviously none of them are capable of using their brains and their mouths at the same time  >:)

A good day to be out of the house and away from all the news.  Power cut announced for local maintenance on power lines so we decided to head off to Nantes and get some new bedding in the IKEA sale as well as check out bed and mattress designs as we need a new one and we finished - after lunch and a stroll round the shopping centre - with a raid on an Indian shop for spices.

I believe several car companies are closing for a few days or laying people off because new pollution rules added to Brexit uncertainty and a downturn in exports to places like China mean they need to assess what's needed to change from diesel and petrol production to hybrid or other eco versions.   I foresee more job losses in those factories and related component supply companies.

It started off really cold this morning but has clouded over and now we are several degrees warmer but still cold and a bit damp.   No signs of a dawn chorus or nesting activity but the locals are definitely eating more.   Double rations needed at the mo to keep them fed.

I hope everyone is tucked up nice and warm - except Pat who I hope is cool - and that there's some good TV this evening.  Thought Silent Witness was shockingly badly written this week - loose ends, holes and that female DI character!!!   Really!

That snuck in while I was typing.  Have a good trip BL and enjoy the weather whatever it brings.   More house improvements and decorating or just fun this time?

Thank you, Hosta, Dove and Obelixx. Can't be much colder than here! We have snow forecast for Saturday but we won't be here.

It's a mixture of both. We hope to go the cinema to see Mary Queen of Scots and we have tickets for Guys and Dolls in Norwich.

I will be painting the breakfast room, pale primrose to match the dining room, it's dark grey at the moment. We had a window put in so it should be heaps lighter when I've finished. Also the kitchen fitters are coming on Monday for the new kitchen. Carpet fitter is coming this Friday to finish, couldn't do the hall before as we were having another window put in. When we were house hunting OH said he didn't want work! But this was the only house we liked on the market at the time. We don't like very modern and we like the odd beam and fireplace.

Sounds like you'll be a busy BL but worth it.   Have fun.   I'm busy gearing up my brain and body for a painting marathon next month.  Possum will be here for 10 days from the 25th and back again at Easter and I'd like to get our new bedroom done by Easter so we can play with tester pots in her new bedroom and get that done by summer.

Have a safe journey Lizzie - your plans sound fun 😀

Watching an Aussie foodie programme on TV (Mr C’s doing, not mine) and they have just featured the fire training facility at Eurobodalla, NSW ......made me think of Mr Pat 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Have avoided the news most of the day, even resorted to radio 2 on my commute....it wasn’t half bad, might try it again 🤪

But there have been some entertaining tweets doing the rounds .....my favourite:
