Well OH has fixed a patch over the torn nail using a piece of teabag fabric and some nail repair glue ... when it was dry I applied a couple of coats of clear nail polish. It seems pretty secure but I’ll put a plaster over it and use rubber gloves before putting my hands in water. So far so good

Just popping in quickly as grandson is still asleep and there's a bit of a lull before I have to put on the veggies for tea. We're having slow roast pork - kitchen smells lovely...
Hope that nail repair holds, Dove. You have a very inventive OH... teabag fabric isn't necessarily the first choice for repairs of any sort!
Glad you survived the festivities, BL. Plenty of rest should sort out the horrid cold - hope Possum keeps hers to herself, Obelixx, and the sinuses clear soon.
The boiler's decided to play up again. It waited until the visitors were settled in before switching itself off, with an error code I'd never seen before. I got it to light again, but hot water is now intermittent - not ideal with a one-year-old... and the boiler engineer isn't answering his phone. I suppose it's not that surprising - he needs a break, just like the rest of us. Kettles may have to be boiled...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
The teabag fabric was a suggestion on a Utube video. It’s an old-type one with some sort of fine plastic net content so it has a degree of strength ... so there is a use for them even if they don’t break down in the compost heap

evening all. @Dovefromabove, are you safe to be left alone these days? Hubby cleared the clothes form the wardrobe where the underfloor heating "stuff" is in readiness for the plumber coming. It appears we have the merest hint of a drip going on . Plumber is coming "1st thing " tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
Dovefromabove - the only good repair to a torn nail I have found (and my nails tear all the time) is a false nail stuck on top to cover it. The downside is that you then have to paint all your nails to match and replace it roughly once a fortnight until the break has grown out - it's a real pain. I'll be really interested to learn if the teabag repair works for you.
