I saw that clip Liri ....puts the rest of us to shame ☺️

Glad you’re in Dove - an eventful evening 😱

Back from Birmingham with a car packed to the gunnels and two chicklets. Had a lovely afternoon at the B’ham Christmas market, followed by a lantern festival at the botanic gardens.  Mercifully the torrential rain held off for both, although we got pretty wet going from place to place

Oh that’s lovely Chicky. Sounds as though you’re really getting into Christmas mode now

We’ve got no more rain, but the wind is very strong and about 27c today so not much done in the garden except pulling weeds from edges around the veggie beds. At least they are a bit easier to pull out after our rain.

    Morning all.
@chicky I'm so glad you have your babies with you: mine will be together with their Mother in Scotland.
Coal face duties today then only 3 more days before holiday part 2.
    Devon.

Morning all/afties, evening Pat. The iwnd will temper the heat a bit, if nothing else.
We managed to escape snow here yesterday, but had hail/sleet/rain and wind. Rather ugly weather. It's a wee bit calmer this morning.
Glad you eventually got in Dove and got it fixed. Not really what you want in this cold weather. Perhaps you need a 'hidden key for another door' backup  ;)
Our back door lock is a bit hit and miss, but I oil it regularly, and that seems to keep it in shape. I use that far more than the front door, as the car is at the back. Perhaps I should take my own advice and keep a front door key somewhere.
Could you have done with a van chicky?  :D

Woke up at 6.30 to find the boiler had gone out. It was still going when I went back to bed at 4.30, but at least the woodburner was still going ( the plus side of being awake for over 2 hours )
Rads warming up nicely now and the woodburner has been topped up.
Hubbies job today is to keep it going. Fingers crossed.
    Are you working today @Fairygirl?
    Devon.

No - I don't work at the weekends Hosta - daughter starts at 7 on a Sunday though, so I have to take her. No public transport at that time.
It's a drag when something goes wrong with boilers isn't it? How come they never fail when it's hot?  :D
I saw from your early posts that you were up and about at silly o'clock.

  • Good morning all  :)
Good to have the chicklets back in the nest @chicky :)
Something had failed inside the lock ... snapped and jammed. Getting me in plus fitting a new one was nigh on £190.
But it could’ve been worse ... the first firm I phoned quoted nearly double that for a new lock plus a call out fee!!! Fortunately after waiting out there for an hour they phoned and said they had no one available. ... that was a national firm with a Norwich branch.  The next number I phoned was a real local firm and their chap was here in 30 mins. He said the first firm are really just a call centre ... so glad they didn’t turn up.  :)

Never easy [or cheap] Dove. Just as well you didn't get the first lot then  :o
Annoying when you had to wait an hour to find out they didn't have anyone though  :/

You’re right there @Fairygirl ... according to the chap that did turn up the first lot just ring around the local firms to get someone to come and then charge double.
National firm with local branches my foot!?!?  >:)
