Bad news Lizzie - hope you’re soon on the mend 🤞🏻
  • Get well soon @Busy-Lizzie
its sad that you missed the carols, but it’s better than missing Christmas Day itself by being poorly then ((hugs)).

Sleep tight everyone ... sweet dreams  :)

In the same way as monitoring blood pressure every day, does not reduce your blood pressure, constant monitoring of electricity usage only reduces your electricity bill if you are wasting it to start with. Of course switching off lights helps. I can manage that without a nanny meter.
Call me cynical, but cars being run on electricity means that HM government will have less revenue in the form of fuel duty. They are going to make it up one day, probably as soon as enough people have electric cars, smart metering means that car charging can be paid for at a different rate to fuel for heating and light.  I hope the day will come when all roof tiles are capable of charging huge batteries in the basement to store power to run cars on.  I don't think the technology is there yet.

    Morning all.
Hosta Hugs for you @Busy-Lizzie, It's a shame you missed something you were looking forward to.
Awake at 5.30 but asleep between 2 and 4 , unlike most nights for the last week.
I'm glad  your nest is full again @chicky.
I'm all for pv panels on roofs, where appropriate. I'm NOT suggesting beautiful buildings are disfigured by them, but most schools, "diy sheds", sports centres, warehouses, office blocks and houses have big , let's be honest, pretty ugly roofs which could be generating power. The cynic in me wonders why the government is stopping ( I believe ) feed in tarrifs and not increasing them? Too cosy in bed with the power suppliers??

  • Good morning all.  :)
Presents must be wrapped today  :)

Good morning all. I was watching the dawn arrive with a cuppa earlier and been looking at a beautiful bright spot in the sky (south) - must be Venus. Been doing some reading about the night sky since.

Wishing you all a good week, particularly anyone with germs/ailments or worries.

Tesla are trialling solar panels that look just like normal roof tiles, instead of a box on the roof type panel.New houses would have them as standard.   Fine in California, not so good in England with overhanging trees. How do you clean them? The pigeons around here make lots of roofs look "interesting" when lichens and mosses grow on the fertilised roof.
I am looking forward to the type of autonomous car that you get in, say "take me to the supermarket", it lets you out at the door, then parks itself until you are ready to go home again.
It will stop 90 year olds getting confused and driving the wrong way up the motorway.
I figure it will happen by the time I am ready to give up driving.
They already have a driverless electric minibus trundling around Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.
  • Hi everyone!   :)

That sounds interesting, Fidget.  I reckon I sound my age when I say technology is changing faster than I can keep up with...

Present wrapping needs to be done here too.  But first I need to brave the crowds in the local large town for something OH has just told me he'd like.   :)

It is Hubbys Birthday in a couple of days. I have to get him a card yet. We are not doing presents as all the spare cash and some besides has gone on our adventure next year. I do need a new video camera though...., maybe in the January Sales.
