I sent my cards to Australia and the USA, maybe on the late side, and bought a load of stamps. No queue in the village Post Office. Much cheaper here than in France, about a third less.

My nephew's birthday is on Jan 9th and everyone forgets it, so when it was his 30th, I took his card to India with me and posted it from there. It worked out at 18p. That winter we took all our cards with us and posted them from India and saved a fortune.

I’m back from Canberra. Phew! I hate being in city traffic.

Anyway, that’s Christmas done for us. We went to the top Chinese Restuarant in Canberra for our family meal last night. The family are all happy not to need to come down here over the Christmas break.

The only thing left is for Hubby and I to swap gifts and it’s all over for another year.
Yeah, right on!😁 (as they say).

    will read back later.

Monring all/afties, evening Pat. City traffic not for me either, and I had to go into Glasgow yesterday for one of those 'wimmin's' examinations. I posted on the Curmudgeon thread about it - or rather, about something I'm very uneasy about.
Couldn't do it either chicky - bad enough doing it once in a blue moon.
Looks like a dank sort of day outside, although still dark. Not too cold. We seem to have snow forecast for the weekend, although some of the forecasts say just rain. We'll see. Bit of snow is far better. I just heard Hosta scream there... :D
Although - is that because of the pM's situation, and he's screaming with delight?
Got my cards a couple of days ago, so I should probably get those done. Don't do too many of them now.
Better shift - catch all you folk later. Enjoy your day whatever you're doing.

Morning all. Pleasant light outside this morning.
I have struggled to get up for the last two days, for work, and on my day off today I am up and contemplating Xmas shopping!  Bought the Christmas Radio Times yesterday...£4.90!!!!!!! Crumbs!
    Have a good day all.
My garden and I live in South Wales.

I have to say, as much as I loathe Mrs Mayhem, nothing about this farce is delightful.
@chicky when we drove from Gatwick up the M23 and round the M25 to the M3 last Wednesday morning, I said the same to Hubby: " god,to think these folk endure this every day!!"

    Hi all
All I can say, is that if we get the politicians we deserve, we must be very bad people.

Builders came and fixed the roof yesterday. They are good lads, recently taking over their grandfathers firm, but they do like cash payment, so both Moira and I had to go out to cash machines to sort them.

3 cases of wine arrived, so looks as though the party is at mine.
How can you lie there and think of England

Yes I used to be one of those on the M25 every day then I swapped it for a job which meant travelling on the Tube every day. Surprise surprise I do not miss it one bit. We got a cab back from Heathrow on Friday evening on our return from our short break just a little reminder of what I used to endure.
    AB Still learning

I have to agree with you Hosta. A shambles doesn't even begin to describe it. I have some sympathy for her - she was landed with the inherited sh*tstorm created by Shiny Dave. No wonder no-one else put themselves forward for the job.
I couldn't have done it AB - not for any amount of money. It's not even as bad in cities here, as it is in and around London. I don't know how people don't have a Peter Finch/Network meltdown on a daily basis.
