They still have shows over the C'mas period, mainly equestrian centres,  and one is for  a dog show the weekend before C'mas. I think we'd be very busy indeed if people started ordering for prize prats  :D
We're also busy with the Royal Highland. They send back the unused ones for re tailing etc, and they usually get those to us for early December, so that gives us a headstart on it. We often feel like we hardly get a break from that, as we're still doing their last minute ones the week or so before the show, wihch is late June.
I like cold dry weather, but not when I'm at work. Fingers suffer very badly, and the place is so badly heated, that you're only warming up when it's about 3pm.
I've just got more fat balls, as they've gone through the 50 I bought a while ago. I have some of the fat blocks as well, and they're enjoying those too. I always break some up and put them in the borders etc, along with sultanas and cheese.

  • Hello all!

Presumably you have fingerless gloves, Fairy?  You can get thermal ones too.  Keeping the wrists warm is really useful - when I gardened in the winter (for other people, for money - now I just look out the window and say "Nah"), I wore the leg part of worn-out thick socks on my wrists, which helped a bit.

Hope you feel better soon, BL.  Baking when you have a cold is no fun... I second the advice to put your feet up for a bit.

That's really interesting about the East Anglian Roman hoard, Dove.  It must have been exciting to be around at the time of the initial discovery.

My teeth are beautifully clean.  I've discovered that the vibration from my electric toothbrush is very soothing for the ache from blocked sinuses.   :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Was going to suggest thermal fingerless gloves and the arm equivalent of leg warmers.

11 minutes to go and my delivery is officially late!   Humph.   OH just home from golf so he can walk the doggies who are very restless and have been "helping" me with all the beads for my felt decs.   Lovely.

It was sooooooooo exciting ... but we were sworn to secrecy for quite a while as it took quite a few days for the  hoard to be recorded, excavated and removed from the site ... then the whole area had to be checked in case there was more as yet undiscovered archaeology in that or surrounding fields ... there was a round the clock police guard.  Later on it was great to see Jude getting some recognition for her work and expertise ... and it was useful publicity for the work of the county archaeology team as it's very poorly funded.   But to think it was in my front garden for at least an hour ...................!!!!

Thanks for the concern ladies, but I have a long sleeved top, a fleece, and a quilted jacket on - in the workshop. Gloves are impossible as you can't work with them on. Not always moving around, so once you're cold, that's it.  :/
It's all very exciting Dove. Must read a bit  more about it.
Liri - baking with a drippy nose is definitely not good - especially if it drops in.... :D

    Evening all.
I vented my anti xmas/brexit anger at some firewood today.

Why did I switch on the News??
Does the woman have no dignity? How many times does she have to be told by the EU that they will NOT re-negotiate?
She's wasted over 2 years dealing with this, at the expense of everything else , and all she's come up with is a deal which is so bad, even she knows is so bad , she's not prepared to put it before Parliament.
You couldn't make this stuff up.

The EU approve of the deal, Parliament don't. If Parliament approved of it the EU wouldn't. She has kept her dignity in an impossible situation.

Sounds as though you need to cut more wood, Hosta.😁😏

Fairy, I know you said you’re ok with warm clothing, but I will add one more hint. I have a knitting pattern for wrist warmers which I find very helpful. I can put it on here if you’re interested. 🤨

I’ve been out to check the rain gauge this morning and there is another 16.5 mm rain in it. That gives a total of 44.5mm over the last three days and it’s still looking misty across the valley, so there’s more to come😃😃😃

The rain last night was VERY heavy. Lots of lightning and thunder.  I was a bit concerned for my young zucchinis and cucumbers that I’d planted out yesterday, but they are standing proudly up today. Amazing and I’m very relieved.
