Not so much of the negotiators Lyn.   Under EU systems, each member country contributes a number of civil servants who then take on all the admin functions which includes negotiating with outside organisations and countries.  The UK thus had little or no staff of its own with EU negotiating experience skills and they, presumably, are still in post in the EU till March 29th.   They've had to spend a fortune hiring people - I know one personally - from outside and they have a huge learning curve learning UK civil service and FO mores whose mills and methods grind exceedngly slow, let alone working out what they can get out of the EU.

It is also very clear that UK politicians have been, and still are very naive, about how the EU functions and how the remaining 27 would stand together and not be picked off one by one.

  • Most UK politicians have never understood how the EU works ... for the past 40 years they’ve just used it as a handy scapegoat to blame stuff on (usually totally misleadingly) and are now surprised that a large part of the UK  electorate believed all their lies about straight bananas etc etc and saw the EU as a malign power.

Funnily enough apart from their sniping from the sidelines, I've seen none of the "leave" MPs come up with anything at all. Their lies and half truths have been exposed and the best they can up with is to blame " project fear ".

On a nice, positive note. I've just sold a " Billy Goat " leaf vacuum which I've not  used since we moved here 7 years ago.
I asked for £450 and we settled at £350. I'd have gone as low as £250 .

We’ve got our Christmas tree  :D. It’s only about 1m tall but it’s beautiful. It’s an Omorika (Serbian spruce) with fragrant silvery foliage
pot grown and OH got it half price cos he works next door to Notcutts  :D

Barcham Trees sell them as ornamental garden trees ... we don’t have room in this garden ... we’ll pot it on and give it lots of tlc and use it next year (hopefully) and then we’ll have to donate it to someone with space for a tall ornamental tree ....
