Years to go yet!   And tonight's vote won't stop the plotters.

The thing about EU funding to the regions is that it was part of an EU wide directive to improve infrastructure/job opportuities/living standards.   I really don't see any evidence that the UK government has or will fund such projects in the future while they remain so London-centric.   Just look at the money being spent on Crossrail and compare that with funding to public transport services in the southwest or the north.
    Exactly so.
Crossrail has just been given "an extra £1.5bn" Funnily enough, that's the same figure "they" said was too high to provide an inland rail route to the south west so it doesn't end up closed at Dawlish every time there's a storm.
Westminster doesn't give ( as @p@pansyface once said ) a flying ferret's fart about the SW. Never has, never will. When it comes to London, they find endless money to widen the M25, expand Heathrow, Crossrail, HS1 and HS2, extend the Jubilee line docklands railway etc etc.
Folk pay tax all over the UK, not just with 50 miles of the M25. It's about time they got their share.

    Morning all,

I really am in total despair regarding the bunch of idiots who run our country.  I don’t think things will effect us, we are too old, but I fear for future generations. What on earth did we work do hard for?

my Fb and Lily and Finlay arrive for a short visit today. Finlayhas his 2 birthday, hard to believe it is 2 years since I went to Moscow, but then it’s 6 since I went to HK for Lily!
forecast is lousy so there may be a lot of cake eaten

have a good day and stay warm

I am still waiting for my coffee, mine’s gone off to work.😀  Busy time at Christmas, it’s amazing how many people suddenly want the job done for Christmas, and yet there are supposed to be so many none believers.

Good morning.   Damp and grey and cold here.  OH is playing a golf match which his partner and opposition won't enjoy but he's had lots of practice at wet golf in Belgium.

The birds have upped their consumption these last few days and are getting thru two mugs of seed mix a day plus all the usual fat balls and blocks.

Chimney sweep due soon.   We've only lit the fire a few times in the last two years but last time we did it filled the room with smelly smoke which I don't want to have to deal with over Xmas.   Other than that, I'm in furniture renovation mode which is messy and then Xmas sewing.

Have a lovely time with family LP and everyone else expecting family home for the hols or going to visit.

  • Morning all!   :)

It's a brighter day here today, but my cold is at the concrete-behind-the-eyes stage, so I'm going to be curled up with a book and a box of tissues, I think.

Is there anyone on this thread who is happy with the way the government is handling anything - not just B****t - at the moment?  If so, they're keeping very quiet...

Hope you enjoy your little ones, LilyP.  You're right, time flies!

    Have a good day, everyone.

Trouble is, the Opposition is no better Liri and they're all so focussed on taking up positions on B****t and indulging in political intrigue and possible benefits for themelves instead of putting country first that the rest of government is paralysed.

    Grey, damp and cold.
I hate this sort of Winter.
I don't expect to like anything the Conservatives are doing, but the Labour party's attitude is even more wretched. I cannot believe I was a member for over 30 years until I saw the light, earlier this year.
Can I go back to bed yet?

Well, better late than never Pdoc and of course you can go back to bed or maybe snuggle in front of a good fire and watch the birds outside.

We’ve had heavy rain this evening. I’m keen to have a look at the rain gauge in the morning.😃
