I've had that in the past too AB. Same number, different road and postcode.
I also had a postman who opened my front door to put letters in. I'd got up to open the door because I knew there was something to be signed for, and he got the shock of his life when he saw me standing there. I complained to Royal Mail and they seemed to have taken it seriously. I still see him, but he's not our regular postman.

Our posties always open the door and leave it inside if it's too big for the letter box.
    Devon.

He wasn't carrying anything that was too big though, Hosta. My front door is rarely unlocked, because I don't use it very often. It was very strange.

We once had our mail delivered, then he thought he'd made a mistake, came back, opened the door, came in and sorted through to check.
    Devon.

My door is never locked either, postman opens it, leaves letters and takes anything laying there with a stamp on it. I love our postman.  Always give him a tip at Christmas, he’s worth it.

I flagged it earlier Lyn - but forgot to mention it  :(
It's great to have a good postman, and I agree - if you're rural, the whole relationship with a postie is quite different to a more urban setting.

  • Totally agree “Fairygirl .. rural posties are wonderful... as well as delivering the post they keep an eye on folk  :)

We’ve had a cosy evening watching some programmes we’d recorded a while back.  :)

Up and out tomorrow morning for BP check and blood tests ... black coffee only for  breakfast ... thd bus will get md to the GP practice about 45 mins early so I’ll take a book with me ... after that I’ll meet OH from the dentists and will have a brunch in The Lamb and do the last little bits of present shopping ... every year there are birthday presents to organise for son and OH who both have birthda a very few days before the 25th!!!

Anyway ... time to snuggle down now ... sleep tight all ... sweet dreams  :)

Have fun Dove.   We're not even allowed coffee before a blood test.   No food or drink at all after midnight.

Dove, the Thai restaurant we went to was near Iceland. We had wondered about the Lamb but we'd just been to Wilko which was also nearby.

Kitchen fitter came at 8am. Large man, looked capable, sounded as though he knew his stuff. It will be chaos in January, must empty all cupboards and drawers and won't be able to cook properly for 5 days. But, hopefully, it will be worth it.

We had lunch in Weatherspoons, Bury St Edmunds, then went to the Pantomime, Sleeping Beauty. It was fun, much smaller theatre than Norwich though. We bought a lovely standard lamp for the dining room from John Lewis in Bury.

I sent my cards to Australia and the USA, maybe on the late side, and bought a load of stamps. No queue in the village Post Office. Much cheaper here than in France, about a third less.

The drinks and canapés party is tomorrow, got muddled.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
