Evening all.  Busy day here doing patchwork homework this morning then machine patchwork class this pm then home for dinner and off out again for dance class - jive, tango and cha-cha so very warming.    Lovely, noisy downpour during patchwork class but, of course, not a drop at home.   Steam in the fields as we drove back up for dace class and now we have clear skies.

Busy - that's a cracking photo.  Love going to Italy - food, wine, scenery, beautiful buildings, lovely people.

FG, Joyce and LP - that all sounds far too exciting and that detour is horrendous.  Hope it gets cleared up soon.

Pat - can you just keep the sheep?  Finders Keepers sort of thing?   Knit the wool,  compost the droppings, even eat the meat?

I don't give a fig for Andrew, his wife or his daughters but I don't see why the queen can't indulge her grand-daughter - we all would too, just not on the same scale - and Busy's right, it will generate revenue and more than pay for itself in other ways.

Fidget, I have seaweed envy.  Never see any on our nearest beaches but lots of oyster and mussel shells and the occasional crab carcase and dead shark egg.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

There are three thoughts about taking seaweed. Purist marine biologists will say that it is needed for the  sandhoppers that live on decaying seaweed, but I only took freshly washed up stuff at the lowest (nearest the sea) tide line. Plenty of decaying stuff left at the high tide mark.
Holidaymakers generally like a clean seaweed free beach, as it smells when it is rotting.
Certain places like Jersey, and I have seen it used on the Isle of Mull, regard it as a free natural resource, like blackberries in the hedgerow.
I try and get as much free stuff as I can that will help my garden grow.  I also collect comfrey from a water madow near the Trent. As everyone will know, it grows back pretty rapidly.

Every time I go to the local coast the Atlantic is in mill pond mode but I suspect, in general, there is too much water movement and not enough rocks for seaweed to grow. I shall have to explore further afield or maybe ask some gardening friends.

Gee that storm looks worrying. Thanks for showing us Lilyp. There’s been nothing on our TV except Florida.🤬

Fidget, that’s interesting about the seaweed. Makes you think.

I don’t want to know about Fergie’s daughter, but I’m sure the news will be full of it tonight.😏

weve still got drizzle here, not enough to influence the count in the rain gauge, but anything is better than drying sun. It’s a bit cool without sunlight, but I’m staying indoors with the wood fire still doing its thing.

    stay safe all.

I meant to continue commenting on earlier posts.
Obelixx, its a bit inconvenient to keep the sheep, firstly they would be able to see them from the road, him next door is a very agro so and so,  we’d need to get someone to do the shearing, I’d have to get the spinning wheel out again, and I could never eat something that had been walking around my paddock.😳 - that’s why we had Angora Goats (for their mohair) but not for eating.  Nice idea though.😏

re being bored at the gallery, I do take knitting or a colouring book and pencils when I’m there. If I took a book to read I’d definitely nod off 😁.

    night all.

It looks and feels more like sleet than drizzle across the valley. It’s bloomin cold out there.
