Change of subject I think.  You can have too much Trumpery.

OH has been playing in the pond which has gone down very low but, it turns out, the deepest bit is still up to his waist.  It's looking manky tho cos it's covered in a layer of bubbly blanket weed which is full of playful froglets.   We have identified a patch on the edges that may be suitable for my gunnera as it has a pipe outlet bringing water from the north side of the house roof.   Just need to see if it's diggable.

He's just checked his weather site since I told him ours had lost all its rain.  It says 2mm on 26/9 and then maybe a bit more in mid October.  Ho can anyone forecast that far?  Maybe when Florence has finished with the Carolinas she'll swing round and leave some remnants for us.   That looks like one hell of a storm.  Glad we don't get that sort of thing over this side.

Thinking about apples. The last time we had a good harvest of apples was April 2011. We’ve been getting late frosts ever since.
    Type your commentmmmmmmm
Is this this year's harvest or 2011's? It's impressive! My small apple tree produced so much last year, the branches were close to touching the ground. This year - a grand total of 2 apples! Maybe it's biennial...

They were meant to be Bramleys, but weren't! They look like they might be Spartan - someone here suggested that after they fruited. They're quite tart, so very nice to eat  :)
    Never heard of Spartans!
Still, at least if they're tart, you can still cook with them.
I get through so many Bramleys every Autumn as I use them for a beautiful apple tart recipe passed on 3 generations ij our family.

Love damsons but can't grow them here.  Too hot.   On the other hand, there are sloes in the hedgerows so not all is lost.   Will have to wait for a trip to the UK to find a Bramley.

31C this pm.  Nice for sun bathing.

Dinner was good and while it roasted, I made 2 of Dove's recommended courgette cakes in the other oven.   Smells wonderful.

Just starting the first episode of Bodyguard now.

    31 degrees?! Not bad.
Courgette cakes as in savoury fritter things, or sweet oven cake things?
I love courgettes, whatever they're in.
Chocolate courgette cake is delectable - great way of concealing the green stuff, so kids will eat it.

IMHO Spartan isn't tart, it's lovely and sweet.
It's the only apple I've eaten straight from the tree and said " WOW " out loud, even though I was alone.

31C again today by 5pm and down to 15C by dawn but set to get cooler at night from tomorrow.

Courgette cake as in sweet and with raisins.  Dove posted the link to the recipe which is here - https://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/recipes/11726744/Honey-and-Co-book-Courgette-golden-raisin-and-pistachio-cake.html   I'm planning to try chocolate courgette cake next week.

Shattered now.  Been doing a primer coat of plain white paint on the walls of the shower room all pm.   Will probably do another tomorrow before doing topcoats so I get a good finish that will last ages.   Decided I was too tired to cook so we'd order pizza but they both close at 9pm!   It was 9:07 when I phoned.

Might have enough energy to make a bacon butty.

dappled shade, my seasons are the opposite to yours. We are just coming out of winter here. The photo was from 2011.  I’m never sure how much fruit we will get because the late frosts ruin the young buds.
